i am guessing you run with vdc off

elperuano 12-20-2012 07:35 PM

Is there any other way??;)

BG370z 12-21-2012 08:31 AM

is there an aftermarket water bottle? the intercooler piping kills that space.

Chuck33079 12-21-2012 08:31 AM

GTM makes one. It's not too expensive.

day 8

intercooler installed, ohh my thats a big one. Lots of piping.
had a small issue with wastegates(seemed two male connection)
shop then machined pcs to fit properly. The new Greddy exhaust is
so cool looking-baffles have to go. Love the look under the engine with the
big intake pipes(but not chrome-i may paint black)the 34 row oil cooler is now on also, tucked neatly away

So i have 3 gauges to mount and have an A-pillar universal mount but shop
not that keen mounting over location close to airbag......what to do?

the task

Nice set-up. How much did it run you? My pillar n gauges were pretty cheap and works just as good :) money I saved is going for the built motor!

elperuano 12-23-2012 12:16 PM

Pfft, from Dubai?? No wonder! Nice progress on the rb30 btw! Lookin good!

what did you do for guage setup? pic?

elperuano 12-23-2012 12:31 PM

Custom pillar pod in black suede like to match interior. I'll post pics when I get home, at the Dolphins game now.

are you concerned about airbag in that location? did you disconnect the air bag? Go Dolfins Go

elperuano 12-23-2012 01:00 PM

I don't think it'll interfere at all with airbags and I didnt disconnect em. Only sticks out about 3-4 inches out.. Shouldn't be a problem at all. Go Fins! Unfortunately I gotta root for the Steelers so we still have a chance, as slim as it may be, to make the playoffs for just this weekend alone.

blackonorange 12-23-2012 02:30 PM

Steelers run show

elperuano 12-23-2012 05:14 PM

Damn Steelers, Ben's been throwing away games at the end twice now in a row. Now we jus playin for pride but being a dolphin fan it's been this way for like a decade :(

I will be putting 3 Defi-red 60mm gauges in stock dash location
(that pic of in dash is how it should look when finished)
Fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp. And the A/F in the lower A-Pillar
location. I want to not mess too much with side/pillar airbag.
Here we go starting to take dash apart. Also waiting for my new GTM
waterbottle with HKS one step colder plugs. Getting closer to the tune...yes!

BG370z 01-07-2013 09:50 AM

Working on the 60mm Defi 3 gauge dash install
front lip is on now-very stealth looking(intercooler kind of hides)
baffles are out of exhaust and that looks great
waiting on one Defi gauge and oil pressure adapter
also 4th guage will be in a-pillar for air fuel
soon it will be time to tune and i hopes this goes good
I expect to do a re-alighnment when all is ready
Bring in the Summer!

Sh0velMan 01-07-2013 10:00 AM

Could you post details on the exact models of gauges you chose and what supporting hardware was needed to make them work?

Thx!

BG370z 01-07-2013 05:48 PM

You can start the car with the stock tune to check for leaks and bleed the cooling system.

No, the system will run normally as if you just have a really long intake on the car.
It is when you start to drive and get into boost that you really need a proper tune. Many of the Mustang guys I know do their own install and the company sends a base tune to get them down to a dyno for a full tune. It is basically a stock map tune with a couple fail safes to protect the engine.

Thanks for the info perhaps we will start it to check for leaks. Hopefully it doesnt take GTM too long to send back our base tune

GTM were good turning around information under a week
Going to see car today...yay

SAM@GTM 01-24-2013 01:55 PM

Usually, me getting the tune out to people isn't an issue if they read the instruction manual. At the very beginning of the manual it tells you to send me the ecu information before getting started on the installation. This gives me enough time to write the tune and get it back so this way when the car is done and ready to go, they already have the tune in hand. A lot of people do skip this step and wait until the very end to ask for the tune. It usually only takes me a couple days to get the tune done, but when people are at the end, they get anxious, which is understandable.

@BG370z Thank you for your business and I hope you enjoy the new power.
