Hill's Garage GTM Stage 2 Supercharger Direct Port Methanol Dyno
I'll be updating this over the course of the next few days, but I just wanted to share our outcome numbers with the Aquamist Direct Port system on the GTM Stage 2 Supercharger.
A special thanks goes out to Frank @ Hill's Garage in Baltimore, MD. He really is one hell of a mechanic and wanted to make sure the car was 100%. His experience in the Nissan / Infiniti community is legendary, he really knows his VQ motors and is quite an artist when it comes to anything! Installing bolt-ons up to install forced induction kits, he does it all and has the experience to know what works and what doesn't. Put it this way, no one else touches my car now and it's been like that for over 3 years now. Thanks to Frank S, Hill's Garage's tuner for staying late and making his magic happen on the Dyno. He has tuned 100's of 350z, 370z, G35s and 37s... forced induction and N/A. He knows what these cars like and the tuning is guaranteed. Another special shout-out and thanks goes to Richard Lamb @ Aquamist. We had a ton of questions and he had all the answers, we emailed him multiple times and he replied multiple times throughout the day, even though he's running 5 hours ahead of us (England). You can tell he's in it because he loves it! He called us a few times throughout the build just to get an update on how everything was going and to see if there was anything he could do. There aren't enough compliments in the world that I could give about his customer service. I'm very glad I went with the Aquamist set-up. Thanks SAM@GTM... I had questions and you had answers along with guidance. His Direct-Port supplement kit gave us everything we needed to tap into the lower manifold. Nozzles, "T" and "Y" adapters, and vinyl line. Matched with the Aquamist HFS-3 kit, this thing is set-up is lethal! Everyone knows Sam's abilities and what kind of products come out from GTM. No task too big or too small for GTM and we all know the quality in their kits and reliability. To the Dyno... I will be updating with new pictures and editing this over the next week. We wanted to run a less-aggressive tune on pump gas alone for daily drive-ability and to pro-long the life of the stock block (even with meth the tune still seems very strong and extremely reliable). Originally it made 510whp, but we dropped timing down a little bit and dropped about 25whp on the tune. 485whp, nothing too ridiculous. With pump gas and the Direct Port methanol, no changes in the tune, we IMMEDIATELY gained 18whp. 503whp without a single change. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...116_005052.jpg Sorry about the blurriness of the picture, but it was taken around 1:30AM last night when we finally finished up. We started off with 503whp and 360ft-lbs to the wheels. When we were done, you can see we pretty much made 543whp and 405ft-lbs! Not only that, but around 5,300RPMs you can see a huge difference in the torque! Sam was right, these cars do like timing and as long as you know what you're doing.. you can really make great power with methanol, reliably. It was cold out, so the air was a lot denser and the car was seeing up to 12psi from the normal 11psi in 70-80 degree weather. This was on test pipes and the Invidia Gemini exhaust. I'm quite happy with the outcome for sure! :driving: |
Wow:tup:

Good stuff here! Must be a blast drive! Set-up looks real efficient and tune must be great for those numbers. Added peace of mind is always great when stomping on the pedal!

In for pics

Direct port injection WI is great stuff! I ran a set-up like that on my old SC'd Celica GT-S, and it enabled me to make great gains!
What concentration mixture are you running? Aquamist systems are top notch too -- very nice! |

It's a 50 / 50 mixture... VP Racing M1 and distilled water. |
^^^ Good stuff. I used the VP meth.
Talk to your tuner, but you might experiment with other ratios -- more water quenches det, more meth raises torque, both displace air and fuel, so it's a big chemistry experiment as you dial it in for max power and safety. If you find methanol a PITA to keep on hand you can achieve similar results with 90% isopropyl alcohol, which is everywhere and dirt cheap. Good luck -- and looking forward to details! |

We did 22 runs last night and used about 1/3 gallon of 50/50. Plus I'm using a daily driven, less aggressive map for pump gas only which allows me to shut the Aquamist off to conserve when need be. |
Niice, thanks for sharing the results :)

Wow nice Numbers. If you saw a black z over there that's my car. Waitin to have the injectors, pump, cogs and new tune. Ya franks the man good guy.frank keeps water-meth at the shop

One word wow congrats:tup:
Now you got me wanting to do the direct port meth set up. |

You can feel the difference in torque and 80mph comes on you quick when you're rolling from 2nd. |
