Default S&R Performance Crash Beam

S&R Performance is always looking to improve our kits even more when it comes to safety. I have reading the forums and the biggest complaint is the crash beam. This is a sneak peak of the crash beam. We have few details to finish up and its to be powder coated.

Looks great Bobby! I am glad you guys have taken the extra time to correctly design and build something very safe and strong. I just hope I never need to use it!

Would it be possible to possibly do two bars? I like the idea, but it seems pretty small compared to the OEM crash bar.

Don't forget the OEM is made from aluminum thats why its bigger the steel one can be smaller but have about the strength.

Does this fit with other intercoolers? I've got a GTM kit, but I'd love to have a crash beam in there.

Crash bars aren't really strong anyway they are meant to crumple in an accident

Actually they are very strong and are designed to transfer energy.

transfering energy is the crumpling up effect. the bar its self is weak, yet it absorbs the energy..... why else would it be made from aluminum, other than weight?

think stepping on a coke can.

Aluminum is stronger than you think, and not all bumper reinforcements are made of aluminum some are steel, high strength steel ,and ultra high strength steel.
And now on some imports they are a composite metal/fiberglass

Agreed. They transfer energy around the driver's cabin and not into the engine which could push into the cabin. They are NOT meant to simply crumple.

i think we are talking about too different things here. im talking about the flimsy 5mph crash bar we have on US cars....... not some major structural piece engineered to save lives.

the images at the top of the page are def not the item im mentioning...

Then you are referring to the bumper absorber.
