Stillen SC help!
I have a Stillen SC with a 9lb pulley, 928 Impeller, new belt, headers, test pipe, and exhaust. The problem is when it is on a DYNO I can't get two runs that look alike. The shop is saying that the belt is slipping to much to. Has anyone out there done the same mods and had success? My goal was 450WHP but they are only putting down 410 and that is not enough.
Thanks for your help |
I had a little belt slippage at first, you can tighten it. It fixed mine, never happened again.

Hey,
Kelly and I had this same problem with his car. When the tuner puts the fan in front of the radiator it started to change each run. Unable to get a base line. Mainly effected low RPMs before the boost kicks in. What we did was take a small sheet of aluminum and bend a shield to mount on the bumper. The shield blocked the air flow from the fan allowing consistent runs. Runs like a Bat out of hell now!! Was effecting his tune on the street before the fix. ISSUE: Air flow sensors are to close to the filters on the stillen intake. During our runs we used a piece of card board to block that air flow at low RPMs. TEST: Try a run with the fan off just to get a reading, then do it again. If there the same or close then its the fan blowing air into the air filters. Mainly effects computer before the boost kicks in at the lower RPMs, makes it hard to get a baseline before the tuner starts his runs. . Hope this helps.. |
Thanks all I will let the tuners know. They ordered a new tentioner and if that don't fix it I will have them try a run without the fan on.

Alex, When I first bought the SC it came with a 9lb pulley then they had some problems and they sent out a 8lb pulley no new belt needed. So I thought that the original belt would be fine. National Speed said the belt may have stretched over the 9k miles I have put on the car since I have had it installed. NS called Stillen and they said oh well you should have ordered the belt with the pulley... I was not very happy with Stillen when I was told that. NS ordered a smaller belt and it still slips. So today we will find out what is going on with the car. Fingers crossed. |

Damn!
Mr squeeze should get paid for his idea of the cog setup lol. |
Quick update. Still waiting on the tentioner to come in then I should have the car on the dyno and give you a real update.
Thanks |

Helped me alot, |
Ok so I just got off the phone with National speed and they are only getting 410whp. They fixed the belt slipping and still getting the same results. They sent the tune to uprev and they are saying it may be the test pipes causing the car to lose boost. We are doing to go back with the cats to see if we can get a little bit more HP. As always I will keep you informed. Stay tuned for dyno charts.
