Thanks! I am very happy with it, but I am in that boat where I want more power... lol

however, I am getting a roll cage, and more suspension work done while the car is going to be down.

It will be cool to have more FI options with the z you cant go wrong there.

I was laughing at the fact that he said 700rwhp...not simply because he has an STS kit.

He knows that he was making a joke that everyone but you sees. You are going to have to put such a large turbo to get 700hp out of it that it wont spool till 6k+. So it will be a dyno queen at best.

I don't know if you have seen my dyno sheet, but the curve is very smooth, and the car drives almost like stock before boost. I know Marti wants to keep that same feel, but deliver more torque.... and for me, more power

trying to bring tq up to match power is better done with gearing, rather than swapping out your kit.

All you are doing to bring them closer is moving the powerband down, based on the definition of HP/TQ. You can do (effectively) the same thing by shortening the rear gear.

If you shorten the rear gear to 4.64 (really short), you'd get effectively the same feel as if you'd kept the stock rear gear, and had 508tq. Of course, you wouldn't want to go that short, but you get the point. You've got enough in the way of CR gears that you should be able to get away with something pretty short for track use.

Trying to fix your problem with a turbo kit means you are trying to improve the piping issues, and having to run a more expensive turbo with a broader efficiency curve. While it would be nice to have those things, I can't imagine going from one single to another, especially before you identify your real issues on track.

Well said!

Well said Dan,

I think what I took as increase in torque only was really to increase efficiency, which the increased torque will be a byproduct

this thread has doubled since i last looked at it..... yikes. hahaha

This is the compressor we'd be using... .

You can use whatever turbo(s) you want, but this engine will not make the torque most people are used to seeing with the VQ35de's. Not to mention that things have not been pushed hard since there are only a few people with built engines.

For a view that isn't as close up I sneaked in and took this. Might have a fitment issue but once that's resolved I think torque should increase a tad.

We'll be overhauling Tim's setup with a built motor at some point in the future but with other back to back testing that we've done with similarly spec'd turbochargers, im confident that we will see a noticeable gain in torque and a widening of the power band.
