4.08 Gears + Forced Induction
Is it even worth it taking in to consideration the issues I will have with traction? Or should I ditch the gears and go back to the OEM setup before I even think of going with FI?
|
go back to OEM IMO...
|
Or get super sticky tires so that the bump in torque due to the gears doesn't keep you slipping looking for traction!
The shift points are not that far off |
Will let you know how it works out.

i would think you would want taller gearings, not shorter...
|
I wish I had 4.08's.... I'm going through with 1000 more RPM left in fourth. If you have traction (strip) it's going to be easily worth a tenth or two. I'd love them.
Yeah, it would tax street tires. Too bad you can light them up in second. LOL! Coop |
Stock gearing, r888 305/30/19 rear camber -0.5. Roast thru second on a cool night. I wouldn't bother 4.08 with boost.
|
You are going to need slicks to grab any sort of traction. Since slicks are not legal for streets, your next best bet is to go with a nice drag radial but then again you will probably still spin through second. If you do eventually go FI, you could keep the 4.08 and see how you like it, and if you don't then just go ahead and switch back to stock or even go taller. It doesn't hurt to try and see what you like.

My twin turbo 1st gear is non existent man. Dont do it unless your going to make a track car. other then that the car pulls extremely hard. I was acually thinking of doing a 3.3 in the rear just to have more time in boost in 1st gear.
|
I was thinking of doing it for fun factor I bet 2nd and 3rd would be wild with 4.08's under boost
