Lookin forward to the response, most likely we won't get one. His question was ok until he sneaked in that "I heard from tuner". Perfect set-up for failure. ANMVQ, out of curiousity was he the same guy that told u to go with the Stillen kit? We all know how that turned out lol! That was easy I had to lol! |

Sam@GTM: I'm not saying it is bad, when a well known shop tells me that they have heard some bad things about it I said ok. I will indeed ask the tuner the details of such as he didn't go into very much at the time (time is $$) with these guys, but will push him for more and post, that much does need to be added I agree, sorry I didn't have that to contribute beforehand but thought I would see if anyone had heard of such. I don't have time to act childish or go about talking about this like kindergarten, trying to get real answers is all, didn't know this forum had become a place for forum bully's to troll (not you Sam) Last edited by 3zworld; 11-21-2012 at 06:42 PM. |

Lol, still not coming out with it eh? Jus another lame vague post to still not say tuner but u wanna add that it's a well known shop?? You speak of growing up when you have a lot to do. ANMVQ has NO experience with the VBU, so why didnt u say anything towards him? Is it cuz his troll post favors ur troll response. You should research. Lot of people have it, and some of them have already answered here in this thread and said YES it works, not some vague answer like you.
You'd make a great politician as well. You want a direct answer with someone but can't seem to give one when called out on "this made up shop". Lol good luck, I'm sure the response you get will be exactly what u give others. |

And what would you like to know about the GTM Torque converter ?
Ive had one dor almost 2 years now. it dropped my 60 ft times to 1.85. Very streetable and drives like the stock unit. I now have a Pro torque with a 3400 stall . 1.80 60 ft times , ok for driving but not the grearist for every day driving. As for the shifting. My stock tranney shift like a terror with the 4.08 gears. and i run the 1/4 mile in 12.342 seconds all moter. No mods at all to the VB. I now have the GTM built stage 4 and let me tell you the differnce is night and day. I have not put the GTM flash into it yet, Im doing that tonight and Sam told me that it will be way faster shifting when the VB is flashed. Im sure that my car will run 12.19 with this upgrade and all i have is 304 RWHP. Sam has been working with me and helps me a lot. He has endless paitiance with me as my computer skill are not that great and he took the time to the other night at 9.00 pm to help me with the uprev set on my PC. for 45 min on the phone. He had never sent me bad advise as alway helps me when i screw up installing things on my car. Z

ok i have been reading this thread and i can tell you that you are the troll here
when i personally ask mechanics/tuners/friends w/experience about certain upgrades and they tell me that they have had/heard/know personally someone with problems, i usually say ok and leave it at that unless its something that really interests me than i will ask why(like one of my mechanic friends told me to keep my car N/A and build it out and after asking him why, i kind of agree with him) i bet you and most other people are the same way, if you ask about an exhaust and your mechanic tells you dont bother with it, it isnt worth the money/ its a pos/its bad news, im pretty sure you believe him and get on with your day instead of trying to ask him how he came to that conclusion, who told him that, what are the exact problems, ect., ect. @OP im very interested in this thread, i didnt know you could upgrade AT, well i learned something new from this thread hope everything goes well Last edited by luigi90210; 11-27-2012 at 02:16 AM. |

I take what my shop tells me with a grain of salt. Not all shops have experience with our particular vehicles. Mine told me they only ever see SC's make an additional 50whp, but I know they were looking at it when they put them on Honda's. In reality These few are really on trolling each other. No one likes being wrong, and no one likes to be called stupid. Now everyone has to justify their intelligence by name calling and throwing facts they found from the internet with no reputable source or skewed testing.
OP there is enough info here to decide whether to get VBU upgrade. No one here cares about hearsay, just facts, documented results. If none such thing exists, have the balls to try it yourself before bashing. If you do get this upgrade, please inform us! You will help an entire group of Z owners. I post all of my results and findings in hopes other people will find value in my own headaches and rewards. So put your douches away, your moms back home, and cease the child like name calling. Resurrect this thread when we have something meaningful.

The shop that I was referring too that is a well known one is Z1 and they said that I didn't need the GTM VBU upgrade as they could do the same with a tune, so my main questioning was what would the "real" benefits of getting the VBU done by itself get me? So hope that perks everyone's curiosity of which shop I was referring too and the reason I'm asking, don't have 2k to go throwing around just to "find out" the hard way.

@3zworld You are welcome to call us here at the shop anytime Monday - Saturday 9am - 6pm PST. Our shop number is (909) 481-4300.
Just to help you guys out on what we do with the valve body and how it is different from the line pressure increase done in UpRev, here is our description from our website: GTM Motorsports*::*AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION*::*GTM Valvebody Upgrade for 7 speed A/T We are proud to present the only high performance modified Valve Body Upgrade option for the Nissan/Infiniti RE710E 7 Speed Automatic Transmission. After many months of development and testing on our own shop G37, we were able to dial in the modifications necessary to increase pressure to specific parts of the transmission to increase the holding power of the 7 speed transmission. Not only does the upgrade increase pressure, it also improves shift quality and response. The 4th to 5th shift now executes significantly faster and the lazy, delayed factory shift is eliminated. We also perform modifications to every individual circuit to fine tune the oil volume so the applied pressure can be controlled more precisely. Also, the EPC Solenoid is modified to handle higher line pressure. The beauty of this modification is that nice, smooth shift points under low loads in fully automatic mode are left intact for comfortable driving around town, while the character of the transmission changes drastically in manual mode at higher loads for spirited driving. Unlike TCM reprogramming that raises pressure across the board and ultimately in areas that don't need it, such as downshifting, pressure is only higher when it is called for. |
