5-6-7 gears are very small and can't handle the extra power,I don't hammer down on the throttle in my car in those gears just 1-4.

Actually, this is an excellent question because there is a huge difference between our approach and the software torque table approach. When you modify the torque tables, you are increasing the line pressure across the board even though it is beneficial, but does not address a specific area of the transmission. Our approach is a little different as we are making specific mechanical improvements to each circuit so this way, we can have faster shifts and even a higher line pressure to accommodate higher horsepower.

Sam

Hey Sam thanx for the info. So would really be that much more beneficial for me to go this route with only 400 WHP ? Also maybe you can shed some light on the losing 5-7 gears.

Ah ok thanx man. Like the first thing my tuner said was NEVER floor it in 5-7. LOL but if I'm shifting like Hwy pulls I should shift out of 4th at wot? So basically go no faster than 130. ;)

You can lean on it a little in 5th:tup:

I've got 496rwhp on meth and I haven't had any issues at all with my trans including alott of dyno time.

Nice thanx man. was just going to ask if you been up there MPH before. I have been 140 ish like twice. no room anywhere . just don't want to be looking for a trans.all tho the GTM upgrades aren't too bad in price.

The fastest I've had my Z is 100mph but for the most part 80-85 I like to go fast thru the mountains here in Georgia.

I topped mine out (speed limiter) within a few hours of buying mine. Sooo are we saying I can't do that again with twin turbos and a 7AT tranny? :(

Not without upgrading your tranny, 5-7's clutches can't handle the extra torque.

Thankfully we have Sam and the guys at Gtm to make a tranny upgrade lol now it just needs to be done and ready for purchase dammit lol

I'm sure some one can jump in with more technical info.

ANMVQ 06-27-2012 11:18 AM

We learing about the tranny gears makes my choice easier, Was going VB and or TQ converter now just same the 5k and get a built tranny . :)

If you want a little more info about FI and automatic transmissions, here is an article I wrote on the subject: http://www.gtmotorsports.com/Technic...ansmission.pdf

That should help you understand what is going on a little better.

Good article Mike

Have to dock you points for not presenting in the new APA 6 format.

KaienZ34 06-27-2012 11:56 AM

Nice read mike....So what would be needed for the 7AT to handle the power that this kit (the one in this thread) is making? Just a tune and cooler? VB upgrade plus tune and cooler, or a fully built trans?
