The dealer will have issues with uprev and diagnosing the steering lock failure because they are retarded. Just a heads up when they give you a call and say " uhhh we cant read your ecu and have no clue whats wrong with the car " They tried to get me to buy a new ECU!

No Landon, you won't loose the UpRev tune. It's stored in RAM and not affected by removing power or resetting the ECU.

At the dealer, my tech plugged in Consult and it recognized the ECU just fine. We were able to pull up various parameters in real-time as well as run one test.

Fixed that for you

ROM = Read Only Memory. This type of memory doesn't lose data when power is cut. Data is "burned" or "flashed" onto the chip.
RAM = Random Access Memory. This type loses data when power is cut.

Your computer, cell phone, iPad, etc all have both types of this memory. Think of your ECU ROM as the hardware settings that stay constant every time you turn your PC/phone/tablet off, while RAM is the data you lose like open documents and browser tabs.

Well technically a ROM can't be changed, so it's a Flash EEPROM (electronically-erasable, programmable read-only memory).

Correct. I didn't want to get into the different types of ROM chips though
