GTM Performance Engineering: Project Nismo S/C Extreme
The owner of this fine Nismo we proudly present to you today sent us his showroom stock car with the intent of having a complete transformation performed right out the gate. With all the expertise of our team, we were able to put together a complete package that addresses every aspect of the car while leaving the clean lines of the factory Nismo body work unmarred.
Here is the list of upgrades: GTM Stage 1.5 Supercharger Kit (550bhp) GTM 2.5" Test Pipes HKS Hi-Power Cat-back exhaust Aquamist HFS-4 Water/Methanol Injection System GTM 70mm Competition Radiator GTM Thermostatic Oil Cooler Supplement Kit and Oil Cooler GTM Vented Fender Liner OS Giken Twin Disk Clutch Kit Heavy Duty Concentric Slave Cylinder for OS Giken Clutch HKS CAMP2 KW Variant 3 Coilovers Hotchis Sway Bar Kit SPC Camber Kit GTM Plug and Play Traction Control System Work Gnosis Wheels Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires Results At the heart of this beast, we have our Stage 1.5 Supercharger Kit that combines the responsiveness and mid-range torque of our Stage 1 Supercharger Kit with the massive airflow afforded by our Stage 2’s compressor inlet design. This delivers a torque curve that comes on hard in the midrange and stays flat all the way to redline. With the water/methanol injection system at full tilt and 93 octane gas, we were able to pump out 507whp and 359wtq. Looking at the dyno graph, you can see that 90% of peak torque is available from 3900rpm to its 7500rpm redline. Dyno Graphs Featured Components Below are all the major components that went into this build. GTM Stage 1.5 Supercharger Kit

Radiator Installation Keeping fluid temperatures under control is our GTM 70mm Competition Radiator and fan shroud to reuse the factory fans along with our 25 row competition engine oil cooler and thermostatic supplement kit. Our vented fender liner helps evacuate air from the oil cooler to increase its efficiency as well. Supercharger Installation Clutch Installation On the drivetrain side of things, we employed the smooth driving characteristics and exceptional clamping abilities of the OS Giken Twin Disk clutch along with a heavy duty concentric slave cylinder for the OS Giken Clutch. Water/Methanol Injection System Installation To keep detonation at bay and allow for more advanced timing is the Aquamist HFS-4 with our 5 nozzle setup. There's one nozzle before the intercooler, one in each pipe after the intercooler and one in each MAF pipe between the MAF sensor and throttle body. Last edited by SAM@GTM; 05-29-2012 at 06:48 PM. |

Exhaust System Installation Expelling spent exhaust gasses is a set of our GTM 2.5" Test Pipes and an HKS Hi-Power Cat-back exhaust. This exhaust setup has an aggressive sound to complement the raw power this car throws down. Engine Monitoring System Installation We installed a second monitor in the factory cubby to allow for the HKS CAMP2 to display all the engine vitals separate from the navigation system we installed in the factory radio’s double DIN slot. In addition to displaying OBDII channels, we installed several sensors: Oil Pressure, Exhaust Gas Temperature, and Fuel Pressure. We also installed a backup camera to help the driver compensate for the Z's blind spots as you back out. Traction Control System Installation With 500whp on tap, it is easy to get the car to step out under power. Therefore, to keep the tail in check, this car has our GTM Plug and Play Traction Control to cut power incrementally to combat wheelspin without the bogging the factory VDC causes. With end user adjustability, the traction control system allows for full opposite lock drifts without losing control or on the other end of the spectrum, stomping on the accelerator in soaking wet weather and hooking up to walk away from the competition. Wheels, Tires, and Suspension Belting out 500whp begs for wider tires to get it to the ground. Standing up to that task are a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in 275/35R19 up front and 305/30R19 out back wrapped around a clean set of Work Gnosis GS2 wheels spec’d by GTM to 19x10” ET30 up front and 19x11” ET18 out back. To keep the car planted in the turns, we installed a set of nicely valved KW variant 3 coilovers and Hotchkis sway bars. With our GTM Precision Laser Alignment and SPC Camber Kit, we were able to dial in the suspension settings to ensure maximum cornering grip without undue tire wear. Last but not least, we upgraded the stopping power as well with Stoptech cross-drilled rotors, GTM braided stainless lines, and Motul RBF600 DOT 4 Racing Brake fluid to stave off brake fade. To finish things off, our GTM Powdercoated Calipers give the braking system a sportier appearance. Last edited by SAM@GTM; 05-29-2012 at 07:58 PM. |

Completed Project Power, poise, and presence are the underlying themes for this build and complement the philosophy behind the OE design while taking it all to the next level. Last edited by SAM@GTM; 05-29-2012 at 08:21 PM. |

Just a safety warning about SPC rear camber arms. Mine sheered off on track. Not overextended etc. SPC bend arm where it's threaded and they sheer off under stress. sPL is better choice for quality build where high stress is anticipated.
Grand am team wouldn't reinstall them on my car after that incident. That's a cute boulevard cruiser though.

Measuring EGT's is great for water injection, but just a good tool in tuning, period. Just because you're not knocking or pinging at a certain AFR, doesn't mean its optimal for your engine. EGT's can help get your tune more precise. Even with timing advance.
