Yet Another DIY GTM TT Install

Excellent write-up and pictures. The drilling was the only thing that worried me, after seeing the "locating jig", it would be no big deal. I would be all over this

Sub'd, and reps coming your way once my 24 hour rep ban has been lifted.

thanks for the DIY!

I wasn't aware that GTM included the drilling guide. That makes this kit much more appealing to me since I'm all about the DIY

If it wasn't for the drilling part this would basically be a straight bolt on application which is quite impressive, such a well thought out kit.

If you want to see it in more detail I've attached the drilling/tap guide that Dembflyr was kind enough to PDF and email me many months ago when I was bugging him about his install

File Type: pdf Microsoft Word - VQ37VHR Tap Guide.pdf (502.7 KB, 67 views)

Nicely detailed PDF. Are the rest of the instructions laid out in a similar fashion?

I think the install manual is good but it could be better. Things like a required tools list would be great. There are at least three taps that are required and even though it does say which ones are needed it would be easier to reference from a list. I think it could also include some tips for how to tighten some of the fittings that are difficult to get to or what tools can be used in certain instances. I also found that there were a few holes in the manual that were easily overcome but do cause some confusion.

These are fairly minor but thats what I can remember thinking about when I was doing the install.

I would agree there, a dedicated page for all required tools and misc purchases such as RTV, coolant, power steering fluid etc. would be great. There are also some sections that are glossed over or assumed you will figure out, but that I expected.

So I guess, going over the instructions a million times and jotting down notes, questions, possible problems, items needed, is a must, or would at least make life a little easier (I normally do this anyways). Of course the DIY's you guys have made help out a lot!
