I know sometimes the BOV springs seem to be stiffer when new. But in due time they soften up once broken in. That's what happen on my FI 350Z.

Great install and props to you. The only thing I feel funny about is how close the oil cooler lines are to the engine mount?

Thanks! The oil cooler lines are close but they do not touch, I am quite paranoid about stuff like this. I've had the oil cooler lines in the same orientation for over a year already, I was just re-routing the path of the lines to clear IC piping.

Yeah it's really not good for the turbos, at least yours have anti-surge built in

I'm still iffy when I hear it. I'm super anal about my car and it working properly lol.

About the turbos spooling, I can hear mine below 3k already spooling and under boost they sound awesome! Even better now that I got the recircs on.

Did they line up or did you have to have them remade?

Passenger side had to be cut and rewelded. Driver side went in after loosening all other pipes.

The first few months of FI you'll hear this "surge" quite a bit, but only at very low boost. It has diminished a bit since then. I talked to Sam about it as well, and he told me it's normal.

Wait until you kick up the boost... then the BOVs will really start to make some noise. It's music to my ears haha.

BTW, I still have the Southbend clutch, but Joe provided me with a full face ceramic disk to replace the DXD street disk. The new HD-CSC has a different bearing on it as well. After finally giving it a proper bleed, everything feels great now.

nice, I had my marcel adjusted in the soutbend so hopefully I can get this working properly when I need to re-install. Do you have any pics of the new HD-CSC, I haven't heard of this? I guess I have the old version.

I disagree that compressor surge is "normal" however, at very low boost I'm sure its not as harmful, but it should not be happening. Thats the point of the BOV, different springs can be used in this particular model and I wonder if they just could not find a spring that worked well. I don't know if the throttle plates and VVEL play any role in this issue either.

Just now finally heard the startup video... I am so mad I haven't made it down there yet... Sounds and looks NASTY... love it...

Hats off to you nick... we gave up on a diff swap yet you tackled this like a Pro... or maybe better? RTV usage seems to be in check unlike some other people we know, haha....

Can't wait to see her in motion...

Also, any reason why GTM goes with turbo smart BOV instead of a tried and proven Tial ? The BOV's you have look exactly like Tials but I guess they are not as Turbosmart is on them, unless that is a Tial ?!? I would def swap the spring though.. I know Tial has springs depending on your vacuum pressure and you get the spring according to that... Tial swaps them for free or sells them for a few bucks... Def with you on surge not being something I would accept as normal..

It's all good Chuck you will see it soon, I'll be down there every night this week wrapping it up, should be able to take it home this weekend. I had a feeling you would appreciate my RTV style after what we've seen, the trick is not to use an entire tube on one gasket lol

That diff swap was just a time issue since we couldn't leave our cars that night. I actually just pulled off the 4.08 diff last night and im installing the 3.5/quaife tonight

As for the turbosmart, I'm not sure the reason for switching, they are about the same price, I do know that these are the new model though and are a bit more compact, very good BOV's. I will give it some time for the spring to soften, if it continues to do it I'll just get some different springs from turbosmart.

My kit came with the Tial 50mm. I also have the surge at low boost. I heard good things about the Synchronic BOV taking care of low pressure surge.
