Nice write up, I'm glad you took some pics of the fuel stabilizer install! Rep:tup:

Yeah the name alludes to something more, but this is literally just a new relay you are running with a fresh 12V from the battery and triggering the relay using the stock pump 12V.

Apparently GTM noticed the pump was not flowing as much as it could under very high demand in the Stage 2 SC kits, a fresh 12V fixed that. I did this just as a safety precaution, if I were going for more power I would have just ran a CJM Fuel return kit with an adjustable FPR.

again, copy cat haha :icon23:

I'm on the same page as you, I''m pretty much setup for a return system, I just need to run lines and upgrade the fuel pump to the 340 or CJM twin system. I didn't do the stabilizer because the turbo cars didn't put as much demand on the pump as the S/C cars do. However, your right, anything you can do to make it that much "safer/sleep better at night", then I'm all for it!

What psi you thinking about running?

Big props on the install, nothing like doing it yourself so you know exactly whats going on!

Don't blame you for not wanting to go back in to the gas tank. It sucks. I was standing on my head in the back of the Challenger with a flashlight in my teeth soldering in the gas tank. NOT fun.

Thanks man, self install is not for everyone but personally I love doing this stuff. I also like knowing every single part on my car, and it just feels more personal when you're busting your knuckles (literally).

As for boost/power, this is an interesting topic. I know of two cars locally running a stage 1 and stage 2 TT at 12psi, both making 550whp/440tq+, both have blown a rod out the block. The stage 1 lasted something like 13,000 miles and saw a lot of abuse. The tune was NOT done by Sam, but by a local tuner, and I have a feeling the timing was quite aggressive to get the most power down.

My personal opinion is they stressed the rods, whether or not detonation was involved I cannot say without seeing the pistons etc. I think the power/torque was too much. These engines are not bullet proof. There are countless people running 400-500whp for a number of years now, and I think that is the "safe" goal.

I plan on running 6-7 psi low boost, 10psi high boost with no more than 500whp (whatever psi gets me there), I will also be running Sams tunes with more conservative timing. Modme on the forums is a perfect example of how long these engines can handle the power when you don't get greedy, he's been running a stage 2 TT for 2-3 years now.

I appreciate the information, It's nice hearing what others have experienced in their area w/ the VQ37 and FI. I will be sitting at the same psi levels, 500whp is plenty on stock internals imo. I'm trying to re-use my block when I do eventually build mine.

Another F.I. 40th, doesn't get much better :)

Smart man. 500RWHP in one of these light cars would be plenty I'd think. My Challenger has a tick over 600 to the wheels but weights 4300 lbs. It's a freakin' handful so I couldn't imagine one of these little go carts with even 500.

Low boost on 93 octane and high boost on 109 and you'd be hunky dory I'd think.

Props to you man... drilling those holes in the block like that would scare the sh*t out of me.. Nice work.

That must be some fun! I am going to try to daily as little boost as the internal gates will let me, I put as little preload on the springs as possible while holding the gate door shut, so hopefully 6psi, probably 430-440whp which is still plenty for the street.

Honestly it seems scary but its not, its hard to fcuk it up. You use a drill bit stop to ensure you dont go too far, and the guide makes it impossible to mess up the angle or spot you are drilling.

Don't worry Ron, Mike is probably just making sure I don't screw up the install :icon17:
