I know another one of my customers with a 350z had some issues with the AEM EBC. He opted for the smaller turbine to aid with spool, and the EBC just did not work all that well all the time.

Then next round of kits will come with the slightly larger turbine (1.15 a/r vs 1.0 a/r), so that will help a bit with boost. These engines rev so high, and the extra exhaust flow in the last 1000rpm can really push the exhaust back pressure up there.

For every 10psi of boost, the exhaust pressure before the turbine should not exceed 20psi (2:1 ratio). In other words, if the turbine is on the small side, the wastegate can see up to 20psi of pressure on the valve just from the exhaust. The 1.0 a/r turbine housing can clearly get to 550whp (and that is a lot for a stock block), the 1.15 a/r housing can do it just a bit more efficiently.

The AEM uses an older style solenoid (single) that connot keep up with boost changes as well as the newer ones on the market. This is why it did nothing for the drop off in boost. A lot of the better ones will use a dual solenoid. The AEM has no adjustment for rpm. Hks is not the only one with rpm adjustability, just the one I chose.

Sebz might have said it was ok because it was on my car when he tuned it. With that being said it did nothing to help with the drop in boost, so not sure why he recommended it. Perhaps because you already bought it.

Edit* The AEM is fine if your just trying to control boost level. Ie if your trying to go from 8 psi to 10.

Here is the AEM solenoid

Woah woah woah you completely misunderstood me!! I was just explaining how I even found you on Facebook! Lolol I am saying that it's crazy how much more efficient your kit is than the STS haha sorry if offended you! And like I said earlier I would be rocking your kit if I wasn't so slammed. The only companies I'm even interested in buyin from is you and GTM and I'm going GTM only cause of the above reason! I never told any other companies I was buying their kit that I can remember haha. Again sorry for offending you !!

Haha no worries man. It just really put your kit into perspective for me ( even though I've seen it in person). No stress

Gotcha! Ok what do you mean by adjustment for rpm? Like you can change psi according to whatever rpm your at or at whatever rpm you desire?

Lets say I have to run 10% on the ebc to hit 10psi. My boost starts going down around 6500 rpm, so at 6500 I can increase to 15%, and at 6700 to 20% ect... to make my boost hold as close tp 10 psi as possible through the rpm band.

Ok so thats why your saying the AEM BC wont hold boost, or didnt hold boost, because you physically can't adjust it for the rpms to compensate for the loss of boost. Makes sense. Thanks for explaining that to me. Repped sir.

I have never used the AEM unit, but I would assume being it is electronic rather then mechanical, that it has a gain function that would allow you to raise boost pressure up top if it is falling in upper rpms.

Yeah, it is an oldie now.

I have started fabrication on ten kits, and will do my best to get these finished as soon as possible. However, quality will always come before quantity...and quality always takes a bit longer.

I am thinking of taking deposits in May. At this time (once a deposit is received) I would send the following items:

Oil pan spacer
RTV (for oil spacer install)
Oil cooler
All oil lines
Fuel injectors
Fuel pump
Fuel pump correction kit
UpRev tuner cables
Manuals
Drill/tapp kit for the intake manifold (BOV vacuum source)

and a few other small items...

This would allow the DIY guys to get most of the stuff out of the way, and ready for the easy part...the pipes (both exhaust and intercooler).

The car can be then checked for any oil leaks, and proper function of pumps, inectors cooling system..ect. After that the rest of the kit would follow. Installing the piping is rather easy/straight forward so it would not take long at all.
