open all the way for me

bring on the noise :ughdance:

these cars need a little more sound, to quiet for me, and the car should still be quiet when driving out of boost.

Remember open dump tubes = very loud

Open dump tubes will also be cheaper.

Open dump will only be loud if driving hard correct?

Just to get an idea on volume, is it a lot louder than running NA with HFC and CBE at WOT and high RPM?

Running open waste gates is as loud as open headers would be. And, yes it will only be that loud when you are on the boost.

Open waste gates are cool for about a month. Then it gets real tiring. Just recirc them and get a non resonated exhaust. I LOVE the refined sound that comes with recirculated waste gates.

I would probably get recirc...

Thank you sir!

Here are a few videos that I have taken that should show what I mean:

Open waste gates and Berk exhaust:

Open down pipes - No exhaust
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx2eIwL_Kfw

Recirculated waste gates and Fast Intentions 3" Non resonated Exhaust

Thanks for the vids. The last one was the best. Recirc for me.

I would suggest re-circulate because as mentioned, loud will get old.

The donor car had test pipes, and the 2.5" dual F.I exhaust when it came in. When it left with the turbo kit on it was quieter than when N/A. I would say at idle it would be comparable to stock because the twin scroll does act like a big muffler.

At WOT it is just the right tone IMO, but we all have different tastes. I like the stock look and sound, because I favor the sleeper idea. On the other hand there is the complete opposite side of the spectrum where a customer wants it as loud as possible.

Is there any other benefit to recirc besides just sound? does it help with spool or anything by keeping the air? if that is even correct on how it works lol

Open dumps will help with performance a bit in theory since the extra exhaust gas does not need to go through to the tail pipe. Less exhaust downstream from turbo means less pressure/resistance.

The three vids aren't a great comparison, but they are indicative. The 'quietest' exhaust has the camera 24" from the taiilpipe! LOL!

I've found VERY little performance loss with recirculation. In doing so you aren't looking over your shoulder, or annoying everyone, each time you want to step beyond half throttle.

I even went with recirculating the BOV. Quiet and stealthy across the board. YMMV.

Let the acceleration and exhaust note announce your authority, not from a dump. :D

Good builds here. Carry on.

I dyno'd before and after recirculating the WGs. Lost 8hp at the very top. Not noticeable and a very fair trade off. Loud does get old.

Having heard the BP on the dyno at WOT, I am very impressed with the even tone of the exhaust and also the overall volume/sound. Not at all 'boi-racr', more like controlled thunder... recircs are the key to a classy and powerful installation IMHO. James's car is a very stealthy turbo kit. Almost like it was a factory option....

recirc

Boost_lee 07-13-2012 02:42 PM

For an 8hp loss, I'd do the recirc.
