No love for the greddy oil pan?
Finally, another update:
At this point it is safe to say that the hard part is behind me on this build. Today I did the PITA section of piping that feeds one side of the turbine, coming from bank 1: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7067.jpg http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7068.jpg http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7069.jpg I also had to modify the Y-pipe from what I have posted a couple of pages back. This is due to the space available between the dual F.I exhaust and the rear transmission support. I could have kept it as it was, and put a 3" 90deg bend right after the transmission. I would have also had to put another 90deg 3" bend. I do not like 90deg bend on the down pipe, especially that close to the turbo. Just a pet peeve I guess, and at the same time improves flow. So to avoid that the Y-pipe will look something like this: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7050.jpg http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7047.jpg You can see it will be a rather straight 3" shot to the turbine outlet: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7048.jpg Y-pipe remains nice and smooth on the inside: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7044.jpg Turbo compressor will have an elbow welded to the outlet: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7059.jpg There may be some that think this is hanging low. Well, I pulled a string from the front subframe to the rear skid plate and you can see where the turbo sits in comparison: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7063.jpg And then, just because it is awesome....the 62mm billet wheel: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...d/IMG_7055.jpg By Saturday night I should have the down pipe welded up, and bank 2 fabricated to feed the other side of the twin scroll turbine. Once that is done, the manifold will be welded solid and I will move on to the waste gates. The oil pan spacers should be here late next week, and the oil relocation kit should arrive tomorrow. Other than that, I am set on completing the build on schedule. |
Man it's a beutiful thing your doing. Will your kit when ready come with full exhaust option or just have to get with F.I. or whatever brand you want.
amazing work, this is coming along nicely
Can u build a y pipe to fit other exhaust besides fast intentions ?
The kit will fit any exhaust system that would bolt up to the OEM Y-pipe and the F.I exhaust system.
There are no other options because I do have $10,000 to spend on all the exhaust systems, install them, just to just make down pipes for all applicatioins. Your local exhaust shop can make a simple Y-pipe for you if needed. I bet it would only cost about $150 to od it too. |
I would (will) go custom exhaust on this kit
The FI exhaust is one of the most popular go this route and don't bother with others.
Good work ! |
Looks great Sasha! I am looking forward to seeing this car on the road this spring! I know James is....!
+1 again for a great thread. |
I too like that it will work with the F.I. Exhaust.
Looks great Sasha..price wise how much r u looking at?
