Thumbs up Mods Tree Before Going For F.I (SC) ?

Dear 370yers ,

I Currently own a stock 2010 370z (AT). I wanted to go through the whole boltons mod tree ( Intake exhaust headers ECU Pulleys etc...)

However, it seems like the power gained from all those mods isnt as substantial as the Going with an SC kit. And obviously if i install alot of bolt ons , most of them will have to go when i install the SC KIt
My mind is currently set on the GTM STAGE II SC KIT.

Speaking to a friend ( who knows what he's talking about ) about going with an SC kit , he gave me the following advice:
"You Need to get your car ready to be able to put this power on the ground and manage the extra power and heat produced "

What i need is a tree of mods ( Preferably in order ) i need to install before finally going with an SC kit for my car to be ready to handle that extra power.
Also specifiying the reasons behind these mods would be awesome.
I can see there's a lot of experts on Z's here and it would be great to get some Information.
Any advice would be really appreciated:

I'd look into engine oil and transmission cooling.

clutch/fly, test pipes, cat back, coil overs, camber/toe arms, toe bolts, wider tires to put the power down, and money


depending what kit you buy the cooling will be included with it.

That is the starting set, you do not need everything on the list to get going, but having it all would set you up for a good/easy road for awhile.

Since yours in an auto I strongly advise a transmission cooler. There are a few transmissions (auto) that have blown out from the gtm supercharger kit. And if you chose to build the transmission it's going to cost over $6k. Supporting mods just what dreamer said you are going To need. The kit might cost you 8k but your going to néed another 4-6 for supporting mods.

The GTM kit (itself) in all cases was not the cause for the failures. Andrews car had other issue which caused the failure and nissan replaced his transmission under warranty (correct me if i am wrong). Andrew's is really the only transmission I have heard of having a failure. There are tons of AT cars running more HP and TQ. Z1 has a GTM TT kit with well over 10k+ miles on an automatic with an aggressive power output. You are more than safe with the GTM kits Transmission cooler is a good idea anytime you add more power on an automatic transmission.

I have the Stillen SC kit, I had on the car before was only springs ,exhaust true dual and X pipe, wider rims and tires and some CF stuff, Looking into suspension stuff now but not a lot of choices for a X coupe, You can get the oil and Tranny coolers with the kit, and STRONGLY recommend getting, and having a Tuner you trust is a must.. I also am 7spd auto and making very good power.

I'm guessing a thermostat, to prevent over-cooling isn't necessary for a transmission cooler. Has anybody installed this kit? GTM got a kit with a 19R cooler for $389.

The 7AT is technically rated (by the transmission mfg, Jatco) for 295 ft-lbs at the back of the engine. Most supercharger kits will go a bit past that into the low 300's. It might last a while anyways, but personally I'd be looking to upgrade or replace the 7AT with any serious SC project if you want longevity.

There's another version of our 7AT that Nissan uses in the FX50/QX56 that's rated for 443 ft-lbs. IMHO, finding one of these out of a wrecked vehicle (and being the first to try out the swap, re: ECU compatibility and all that jazz) might be cheaper than getting the existing one's internals upgraded. The Jatco part numbers are JR710E and JR711E for the two different versions. It's also possible that Jatco might sell a cheap kit with just the internal component changes to upgrade from 710 to 711, who knows. I don't think anyone's really explored this direction fully.

I know for a fact that I've been running well over 300ft-lbs on my Z for sometime now. After some adjustments in the compression ratings in the tranny, I'm sure this will help in the shifting and also pushing the trq limit of these stock trannies. At the same time owner beware.
