Default Supercharger kit...?

Hey guys, I am new here and thinking about getting a Nismo 370Z. Problem is, I want more power than stock has to offer. I am looking at possibly a supercharger kit, but I want to know how these kits rank for a daily driver? Reliable? Not reliable? etc. What SC kit is the best for this car? I have looked at the Stillen kit, but couldn't really find any reliability info on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Um ... welcome to the board and a couple of things ....
  • Search is your friend
  • Search > You (at the moment)
  • There are several threads that debate this topic ad nauseam

But to answer your question these are your options in random order:
  1. GTM Stage 1 SC
  2. GTM Stage 1.5 SC
  3. GTM Stage 2 SC
  4. GTM Twin SC
  5. Stillen SC
  6. Custom SC kit from the best tuner shop

Your personal preference on which one is best.

So what is the general consensus on reliability on the GTM kits? I want more power, but don't want to have a blown engine in a week lol.

"So what is the general consensus on reliability on the GTM kits?" ... or an other FI kit from Stillen or GReddy for example.

Several factors are involved with providing reliability with any of the FI kits:
  • The cash outlay for the proper FI kit itself for your goals
  • The skills to self install or the cash for a competent shop to install
  • The cash outlay for the supporting options (cooling, clutch, tune, etc)
  • Probably most important is a proper tune after everything is installed
  • A higher level of commitment to maintenance of the vehicle and the FI infrastructure

Do a lot of research before picking a kit to meet your performance goals. Also, be prepared for expenses beyond the FI kit, the installation, and a tune. Last, be prepared to be more involved in maintaining your ride after the initial install.

Wind.zero hit it all, money and being prepared is what it boils down to.
I have just under 20k miles on my GTM stage 1 kit and daily drive the car, minus the last 4 months because some lady hit me. Kit has been very reliable, but I monitor the car extra and keep strict maintenance levels so not as to cause more issues.

How often do you change the blower oil? Does it take a trip to installer to keep it in shape? If so how often? I want the GTM for my Nismo but no authored dealers here in DC.

The oil for the unit requires a change every 50k miles, so I have yet to need to change it.
I think some of the up keep can be done yourself, especially if you have some mechanical knowledge and the proper tools.
