Those cats are restricting exhaust gases, they are not getting to the turbo with the same velocity, it doesn't take just heat to make a turbo spool faster.
More power = higher exh temps, this will eventually destroy your cats, when that happens fragments are gonna take your turbo out. This is just advise, not trying to bash on your build. I like those wheels!, car looks mean.

I still love your build just have that concern for the cats. If I were to go through the same build now, I would remove the cats for peace of mind rather than worry every time I boost. |

Agree with the comments on the catalytics. You will lose velocity and heat by keeping them. This will in turn make less power, spool slower, and once they blow up will destroy the turbo.
On a side note, that is the worst FMIC design I have ever seen. I thought the FMIC on the 350z JWT kits was bad, but this one takes the cake. With the market fluded with nice fmic's (like the one linked below) why use something like that. http://www.maperformance.com/product...stone_TRTT.jpg Last edited by Boosted Performance; 03-02-2012 at 02:59 PM. |

I think that fmic would be plenty fine for the low amt of boost that most people are running. although not the most efficient, im sure switching intrcoolers at the psi level we run (7-10psi for most) would be neglegible. especially since there is already an extremely cool, dense charge coming from the remote mount turbo.
so could it be improved, ya. does it need to be, not at all

Spool up time would be the least of my concerns if the car was mine. I only mentioned it because you were told that by keeping the cats the turbos will spool faster. This is not true.
I would be worried about the cat failing and then picking the turbo in pieces.
