Uhhh well supposed to get the base map from Marc today so maybe Tommorrow

Ron 03-02-2012 12:32 PM

Those cats are restricting exhaust gases, they are not getting to the turbo with the same velocity, it doesn't take just heat to make a turbo spool faster.

More power = higher exh temps, this will eventually destroy your cats, when that happens fragments are gonna take your turbo out.

This is just advise, not trying to bash on your build. :tiphat:

I like those wheels!, car looks mean.

That's what I was saying. I am not trying to bash either.

I know you had good points but those cars weren't 370s and you don't know what their tune was like if the tuner just dumps the fuel to it that's when they fail I had this exact talk with Marc and he told me about it and how it transfers heat I your that worried about email him, I'm not arguing with you anymore.

I still love your build just have that concern for the cats. If I were to go through the same build now, I would remove the cats for peace of mind rather than worry every time I boost.

What about ceramic coated hfc's? That would help keep the heat in right?

Oh yeah.

In for the results! (and videos if you can)

Agree with the comments on the catalytics. You will lose velocity and heat by keeping them. This will in turn make less power, spool slower, and once they blow up will destroy the turbo.

On a side note, that is the worst FMIC design I have ever seen. I thought the FMIC on the 350z JWT kits was bad, but this one takes the cake.

With the market fluded with nice fmic's (like the one linked below) why use something like that.

There u go, and before you some start bashing on Boosted Z.. this is his work:

i agree it looks ugly, but if it does the job...

btw is it april yet?

edub370 03-02-2012 02:21 PM

I think that fmic would be plenty fine for the low amt of boost that most people are running. although not the most efficient, im sure switching intrcoolers at the psi level we run (7-10psi for most) would be neglegible. especially since there is already an extremely cool, dense charge coming from the remote mount turbo.

so could it be improved, ya. does it need to be, not at all

and it begins.. Come on guys. I can understand your concerns but this is his first build. Let's just keep at that...HIS BUILD...People will choose what they like and for the price and performance. Not because someone else has a problem with the design, kits, etc. Just let the man enjoy what is about to happen and be happy for him. Sorry had to say it because it went from a simple concern to full blown "this kit is better" type discussion.

blackonorange 03-02-2012 02:41 PM

I though it looked cool.... But oh well :(

Of I am unhappy with spool up time I'll get them gutted and ceramic coated and we can compare

Looking at the graph on the nismo that STS posted spool up time should be fine but every car is different

Spool up time would be the least of my concerns if the car was mine. I only mentioned it because you were told that by keeping the cats the turbos will spool faster. This is not true.

I would be worried about the cat failing and then picking the turbo in pieces.

yeah i agree, spending that much on a turbo just to have it destroyed by some debris would break my heart!
