GTM Performance Engineering: VQ37VHR Twin Supercharger System
We are pleased to announce that we are in the final stages of development of our GTM Twin Supercharger System for the VQ37. With the magnificent performance offered by the Rotrex superchargers and our great experience with them, this system will use a pair of smaller chargers to take supercharging of the VQ37 to the next level.
In addition to the 370Z, this twin supercharger kit will also be available for all the VQ35HR and VQ37VHR Infiniti vehicles as well (including those equipped with AWD). That means the G37(X), FX35/37, and EX35. Our GTM supercharger system will be using a pair of Rotrex C30 series superchargers. Thanks to Rotrex’s patented hi-speed planetary traction drive, these superchargers are able to spin up to 120,000rpm! Great speeds and low noise are just some of the advantages of traction drives over traditional gear transmissions. Traction drives transmit power through friction forces between its rolling elements. The Rotrex patented traction drive uses an elastic annulus with a small pre-span to secure contact between the roller planets and the sun shaft with a reasonable force. The patented "ramp effect" increases efficiency and reliability in the transmission by regulating the torque transfer capability on demand through self-adjusting planet geometry. To enhance performance, the Rotrex traction drive uses a special traction fluid. These fluids are a new family of synthetic hydrocarbon oils and greases offering a series of unique performance advantages. Developed specially for its use in Rotrex superchargers, the SX100 momentarily increases viscosity under high surface pressure, enhancing the traction drive performance by securing the optimum friction between rolling elements while cooling and protecting the system. This traction drive combined with the latest technology in centrifugal compression, characterized by high adiabatic efficiency (up to 80%) and low noise, gives Rotrex superchargers an exceptional competitive edge over any other forced induction solution. Here’s a sneak peek at the design drawings of our Twin Supercharger system layout: http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...7AWDLAYOUT.jpg http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...detailsvhr.jpg As usual, we will be offering different stages to accommodate varying horsepower needs…all the way up to 800hp! Naturally, the higher stages will require a built motor (and built automatic transmission if applicable) to realize the horsepower potential reliably. Below are the four different superchargers in the C30 range that are currently available and the horsepower they are rated at (times two of course). C30-64 Trim up to 560 HP C30-74 trim up to 600 HP C30-84 trim up to 640 HP C30-94 trim up to 800 HP Here is some information from Rotrex’s website: http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...argerSpecs.jpg http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...pressormap.jpg http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...pressormap.jpg http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...pressormap.jpg http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...pressormap.jpg Here is a side by side picture comparison of the C38 (used in our current supercharger offerings) and the smaller C30 supercharger unit. http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...T/P1170986.jpg http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...T/P1170985.jpg Now, as exciting as all of this is, we don’t necessarily expect to have tons of these being sold, we are mostly doing it for the fun and the challenge of being different…and just because we can! |
Holy Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit..
Well Done GTM |
holy crap!!!!
|
Good lord.
Has anyone built a 1000 whp capable VQ37HR yet? Looks like you guys will need one for a set of the bigger blowers... I've seen SC + turbo combos and of course twin turbos, but never twin blowers... neat. |
:happydance:
Can you imagine a built 4.5 L and two of those babies in a G37AWD ? :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Nice imagination GTM ..... |
:yum:

Wow! Amazing work! Sheesh!! The possibilities!
|
so so sick
|
Do they make boost controllers for superchargers because that would be awesome so you can get a bigger kit for protential growth.
|
Interesting.

Do you want a test car Sam? :D
|
Please educate me on this setup ... So it's two identical superchargers, just one for each side? Please explain the benefits of this approach. Sounds very interesting!

I wasn't trying to be rude. When u swap pulleys you are changing belt size as well, this determines how fast the engine is spinning the SC, how can a you regulate that without changing pulleys and belts? Again not trying to be a smart***. I really don't know how to. :tiphat:

Thats what I was thinking because then you can always run the smaller pulley and just control the boost. No more switching pulleys and belts with a retune and being unable to regulate boost other then gas peddle

isnt there twice the parasitic loss from the twin chargers when off boost??
|
What torque can we expect out of this? Better than a single SC setup?
|
Great work and very impressive as always.
Question though, how is this better than having one single supercharger or twin turbo instead? |
Wow...kind of happy I didn't pull the trigger on FI just yet. Looks like the table is still being set with options.

But for real, this is a really impressive guys!!! |
wow... Developments like this make me wish I had bought another Z.. Can't wait to see this on a car!
|
Awesome,
a 370z may be in my future depending on how this turns out. |

Twin superchargers wow  |
Nice Sam. If I remember correctly Koenigsegg started his cars with a Ford 5.0L with Twin Rotex superchargers. Good luck and will keep an eye on this! ;)
|
Great stuff Sam. When do you plan to get this done?
There is a guy on the K20 platform that did a twin C38 setup. Though they are bigger he ran them in a piggy back setup. This GTM one should be very interesting since it runs a better bracket setup. Reminds me of the Power Enterprise Quad Charged R35 that runs the C30-94. |
this is a very interesting thread...

At what HP range would you (Sam) say the auto tranny would need upgrades? I'm looking for power in the 400-420WHP range. Wondering about how much money would be needed for the tranny upgrades. I've seen on your site you have fully built trannies and parts but i don't know what is needed for the 7AT to handle the small-ish amount of power i'm looking for. Thank you for your time.

370ztsc ;)

Wow, I'm kinda blown away. Didn't see this coming.

This is looking super sweet. I love TT's though. This would be a hard toss up. TQ numbers are going to have to play a good roll. This will be big hit at SEMA this year. It's so nice to see a company put out quality product one after another. Take note other vendors. It doesn't necessary have to be performance wise nither. GTM, no talk just action. Boy I'd like to call out one particular company but I'll be nice.
In for numbers. I'm ready to see some built motor prodjects for the 370. |
Call em out:eek:
