How well do our cars compete S/C'd?
**Warning** Stupid question.
Ok I know that with the GTM Stage 2 supercharger the Z makes around 505 whp. My question is with GTM S/C, Bride Low-Max seats, Hotchkiss Sway Bars, forgestar F14's, fast intentions exhaust, test pipes, and oil cooler of course Something like this set up how do we compare against other cars? On a track, drag, or street how do we compare to a M3, ISF, or S4? I know this is a horrible thread destined to fail but basically I'm contemplating buying either the Z or a sports/luxury car and want to see how the Z stack up against them when it's been modded pretty heavily. |

if you plan to track it you won't get far without better pads and fluid at least, Massive swaybars hurt dragstrip times, and for those look in the 1/4 mile thread. i won't mention street because while i believe speeding on an empty freeway isn't so bad, or back country roads, racing another car on the street is just dumb and against forum rules(unless it was like the time i raced my buddies sentra 1.6 in my swift gl because at the end of the race we still weren't going the speed limit lol)

With a centrifugal supercharger 1st and (most) of 2nd gear isn't much faster than a bolt-on NA 370Z. 3rd gear and up is when it really starts to pull. This is assuming you have sticky tires.

True story.
To answer the OP, a supercharged 370Z should be a bit faster than the 3 mentioned [stock] luxury cars. The S4 has AWD, should be pretty quick from a dig. Jnaut's driving a RS4 now, we've run eachother a bunch of times on the track and . He runs similar ET's but about 1 or 2 mph slower than my Z. He wins the 1/8 mile but I win the 1/4 mile. I could be wrong but I don't think the many of the modded V8 S4's are much faster than that. From what I've seen the newer M3's are pretty quick, low 13's to high 12's but in the mid to low 11x mph trap speeds. Pretty quick for stock IMO.

Sorry for the OT reply, but just the usual reminder you'll get 100x in a thread like this:
On the track last week in a LapBattle event, I beat an 800 WHP GTR rather soundly and a few newer Porsches by a smaller margin. And I took second in my class to a very old E36 M3. A veteran racer was one second behind me in a naturally aspirated early 90's miata, and I was surprised he didn't beat me. Until you've been at it for a while, how much time you spend at the track will do a lot more for your times than improving the car's power to weight ratio. Brakes were mentioned already, but if you're new to this stuff, one other thing is if you put R comp tires on one car and street tires on the other, the car with the R comp tires will win the race if the cars and their drivers are in the same ballpark. And running R comps burns up money really fast. Of course, the bigger question is how much and how intensely do you intend to do things like drag race or road race. If you only want to do that a few times a year, forget track performance and get the car that's the most fun on the street or looks and feels coolest to you. You'll be happier, honest. |

I hoping that the stage 2 SC will pull like a freight train out of the hole on the drag strip.
but remember you will have to 12 psig of air in the drag radials. Going down the track like this takes some getting use to. I just got my race sreet converter from Pro Torque with 3400 stall. I curently have a GTM converter and it gave me .436 seconds of my 12.865 runs. 12.42 now. The stall on it is 1700 rpm. Sam converter, has modified the internal parts of the converter, the car pulls really hard with it, 60 ft = 1.852. 1.832 was my best 7 AT. Now add 200 rwhp to it and time will tell what it will run. the problem is the 4th to 5th shift and hopefully his fully built 7 AT will cure this problem. im hoping to pull 1.79 60 ft time N/A. with this set up. Im also looking a LSD for the diff now. It does not mater how much RWHP you have but if you can not make it hook up at the line all you will do is spit your tires. i have 305/ 35/ 18 M/T drag radials. You also must now how to drive your car and when to short shift the gears, Its all about the driver and how well you now your car. my worst run was a 21.7 1/4 mile almost hit the wall in second gear, the back end kicked out and i almost hit the wall,. Sam and i have talked about my car an when i get the SC with meth on it he said thats its going to be a missle on wheels in the 1/4 mile. Z
