GTM TT kit - What exhaust are you running?

Hey guys,

For the ones that have the GTM tt kit with the 3" down pipes, what exhaust are you running? Was there any issues mounting other brands exhaust onto the down pipes? Not sure if im in the right room but, I thought I would ask here first.

TerribleONE 01-31-2012 01:02 PM

Hold off for fast intentions 3" :]

lol ... Thanks for letting me know but, the down pipe flanges should meet up with other exhausts flanges without an issue right?

Correct but why not maximize gains and go with a 3"? With a tune you will definitely pick up more whp

I know, I was just looking around for other 3" exhaust and making sure that they would fit properly before I set on a system. When is the FI coming out?

roplusbee 01-31-2012 01:26 PM

Good luck finding a mainstream 3" CBE. Your options are quickly limited to AAM, GTM, and Fast Intentions. You could go custom, but I would say that GTM or F.I. would be your best bets!

I figured it was limited but,I do like the AAM sound and look of the exhaust. Thanks for your help guys!

Ron 01-31-2012 01:56 PM

There is currently a group buy for the 3'' FI CBE that is actually being made to fit the GTM 3'' downpipes. Pricing and wait time will increase once it goes on regular sale...PM me if you want in; I am helping Tony with the list and customer info. I'll need ur email and phone number. Group buy exhaust systems should start shipping after feb 20

SPOHN 01-31-2012 08:16 PM

Sometimes other exhaust can be a little problematic if they don't have a flex built into them. But most times you can make it work. Just something to consider.

LafitteZ 01-31-2012 08:22 PM

I have the greddy turbo tic and 2 1/2 downs and it sound reallyyyyy good and i put down really good numbers.

Have you pulled the silencers yet? That's when things get interesting.

LafitteZ 01-31-2012 08:53 PM

yea there out i love how it sounds man.

roplusbee 02-01-2012 09:04 AM

The Greddy TiC is 2.75" and should be plenty for F/I applications as well. That was my alternative if I couldn't work the F.I. 3" TDX.

Dembflyr 02-01-2012 09:50 AM

I was running the Berk 2.5" with my TT. I am patiently waiting for spring and my Fast Intentions 3".
Since this is the only change that I am going to make this spring I should get an idea as to the gains going from 2.5" to 3" with TT. Of course that'll only be with a butt dyno so it may be difficult to tell.

SharpByCoop 02-01-2012 11:28 AM

2.5" ARK Grip system for me, w/GTM test pipes. More diameter = Louder. :(

We made almost 600whp and my G is one of the fastest TT's out there, with this combo.

Don't overthink the need for 3" pipes. This might even give me more midrange, which makes it that much MORE fun!

AWX Z34 02-01-2012 12:05 PM

Wow, thanks for the helpful input guys!!

bullitt5897 02-01-2012 04:21 PM

running two different setups on both my GTM cars. For the G37 we are running GTM 3" dual and for my 370z we are running the GTM 3" Quad. Both are EXCELLENT EXHAUSTS!!! The Quad if you can afford it is AMAZING!!! Had crowds gathering around at SEMA to hear this thing roar! It made a LOT of GTR owners Jealous!!! They were parked next to me at the show and constantly asked "what the HELL do you have in that THING!?!?!?!"

B.A.Q 02-01-2012 11:48 PM

Do you happen to have any vids? Should be interesting, I've never found a video of the quad tips.

Is it confirmed that the GTM 3" downpipes will not mate to a 2.5" exhaust? Leaving FI, GTM and AAM the only options for catback?

Just realized a revived a super old thread...

No. Most 2.5" will fit the GTM 3" down pipes as they end in the factory location. I had no issues hooking my Berk up to the 3" down pipes.

BlkNismo 02-11-2013 01:38 PM

thanks. Wanted to make sure flange bolts would line up.

lineyho 02-11-2013 08:51 PM

3" AAM's with GTM 3" down pipes. No cats. Yes, and very loud. Just working on getting use to the volume level. Will definitely be doing some sound dampening inside.

Chuck33079 02-12-2013 05:03 PM

GTM downpipes with EWGs recirculated to a FI 3" exhaust, catted. Fairly quiet at idle and cruise, and just loud enough at WOT.

Mr.Squeeze 02-12-2013 05:41 PM

GTM 3 inch down pipes F.I 3 inch exhaust open WG dumps.

Only loud when am WOT

elperuano 02-12-2013 06:12 PM

I wanted to go with the FI 3" as well but they don't make none for the g37. I had to go with Gtm 3" downpipe and their 3" catback exhaust. I didnt want a catback but had no choice at the moment.. Gonna look for what else is out there later on.

Dembflyr 02-12-2013 06:49 PM

I will add that before I sold the car I went with the non-resonated FI 3" and recirculated the WG. By far the absolute best the car ever sounded.

Hell yeah they are loud. I had no idea the first time I got in it and hit 4500rpm what the hell that sounds was. Freaked me out :icon17: I have since recirc my open dumps as to keep out of trouble
I'm running Gemini invidia on mine. It's a bit small 2.36" I think and had to weld to a smaller diameter from down pipes. Already had the exhaust b4 I went TT and I like how quiet it is.

That is a bit small are you going with a bigger exhaust for your build ? I had to go 3 inch on mine had way to much back pressure.

Yeah that is the one thing I believe that's holding me back. I recall seeing a big difference In torque when u went with your 3". I would like to get a dyno run down n see where she is at and if its to choked see if GTM will slap a 3" on n run her again. Only problem is convincing the wife I need a "new" exhaust when the other one only has about 500miles on it :ughdance: Would love a quad exhaust but that means new rear bumper n more $$$ :icon14:

I have a heap of questions about the GTM dual vs quad tips if you wouldn't mind me asking..? :)

Cheers..

SPOHN 04-27-2013 08:47 AM

Quads is bad$$. Along with $$$$. I'd rather have a titanium exhaust. I want to do something different. But my Greddy is so nice sounding besides all the drone.

370zrider 04-27-2013 11:01 AM

Anyone running Stillen's exhaust?

I always thought that downpipes eliminated the cats. How were you able to get a catted downpipe setup? Was this a custom job?

Ron 04-27-2013 11:47 AM

They do. The cats are an optional extra on the FI exhaust.

COSMO 04-27-2013 05:45 PM

Iam running mine with the stillen but had to had a reducer installed since I have the gtm down pipes... Check my thread...

Exoticspeed 2.5" with GTM 3" down pipe.

Motordyne E370, 3"dp and open dumps. Sounds mint. WOT it is loud in cabin but source's have told me that outside it isn't as apparent

I remember reading once that motordyne would offer full 3" piping since their exhaust is modular, but I never saw any examples. Is that what you got?

I know that the exhaust uses dual 2.5" primary tubes for low end to upper midrange power and torque then from the midpipe muffler back it utilizes 3" exhaust tubes minimizing flow resistance and yielding maximum high RPM power.

From Motordyne:
The progressive expansion of tube diameter and exhaust flow area optimizes pulse scavenging while minimizing flow resistance and pressure drop. The result is maximum power and torque for NA and FI applications up to 700 HP
