Wonder if Sam is gonna start using those when they come out instead of the GT2860RS'

Bad timing for me!

Well, the question is how much of a difference will it really make on a street car without a built engine i.e. one that can't take advantage of big boost. The turbos appear to flow similarly at lower pressure ratios.

You know, I heard about these bad boys just the other day and am in contact with Garrett to get more info.

Nix: the key is whether or not they are also more efficient. Higher efficiency translates into more horsepower and horsepower is good. :D While it's true that you are still limited to the capability of the stock engine, having these installed from the get go and building the motor down the road ultimately gives you more headroom for additional power.

Again, we're looking into whether or not these can be used without redesigning the whole kit. I'll post back with updates as I get them.

That will be the biggest question, can those who already bought a TT kit just upgrade with minimal effort, if so.

Please do so.I got my kit sitting on the garage and depending on how soon I might hold off on installing it..if they are worth it..

it would cost at least 3-4k to upgrade to those after all is said and done. Not worth it for 10% more power. If you drop the motor and change out the turbos, might as well go with a bigger turbo package.

Found this,

The GTX28 turbos (Comp hsg and CHRA) will be sold w/o a turbine hsg. Since the turbine wheel is the same as the GT28 you can reuse your turbine hsg or buy one of the new hsgs seperate. Comp hsg machining is specific to the new GTX wheel

The GTX2863R flows as much as the GT2871R but with GT2860RS boost response!
