From the looks of it on their site, it just looks like a relay and heavier gauge wire. You could put the same thing together for less than $20. Unless I am missing something.

Ron 12-01-2011 04:20 PM

^ probably so, you could piece it together for less

You are going top shelf on all of your parts, and I applaud you. Good stuff!

I won't agree with you here:

Maybe you aren't aware, but this will maximize the noise on this by running open dumps. This car is going to get to max boost VERY quickly, and every time it does it is going to go 'BLAAAAATTTTT!!!', annoying everyone.

Obviously mine, with internally rerouted returns, isn't showing any loss of power. :tiphat:

I'm showing my age. Stealth is cool. ;)

Thanks Coop. I followed your build and got a lot of good info from there. About the open dumps, I foresaw that I could get tired of the noise so I also bought the recirc kit in case it gets way too loud :D

Congrats on doing this yourself, I'll be going down this road in another month or two. Though I have to say, I don't really know why everyone goes with external wastegates with these kits, 28rs from garret are internally wastegated turbos and its cheaper/less piping. Only reason I can see using external on these setups is > 20psi of boost or noise, 6-15psi with the stock actuators work great.

Congrats! Sub'd

Sub'd for clutch feedback

The kit has shipped! :D:D:D

Awesome Ron. Are you going to get a shop in TX to do your install? I know you said that you didn't know yet, but I hear that there are a few good shops around.

O&G 12-04-2011 11:45 AM

The stock ECU will actually adjust timing too. I'm very interested in the voltage stabilizer set-up you got w/ your kit. I'm going to order it tomorrow. Meth kit is a great idea for this city, xspecially in the summer. Which kit are you leaning towards?

O&G 12-04-2011 11:48 AM

It was nice meeting you too, your doing your build the right way, no short cuts. You will not regret it.

Ron 12-04-2011 12:17 PM

Nice meeting you too man. Sorry I left early, little sis was bored and hungry lol. I was gonna say bye but everybody disappeared haha. Not sure on what meth kit, aquamist with direct port inj? I want to get everything set up and the car running before I decide if I REALLY need it. I've got loooots of reading to do on this topic before buying a kit.

Right now I'm just going over all the parts and reading the GTM installation manual to see what other things need to be done so I that they can be tackled all at once. I'm trying to avoid any delays at the shop bc of a missing/incorrect part. If any of you guys have any recommendation of what else YOU would do, please share :D

Also I realized Sat at the meet (after a supra flew by me) that my car is not loud obnoxious enough and its gonna get quieter with the turbos so I am thinking about removing the resonators :p

theDreamer 12-04-2011 12:21 PM

Ron, do you HFC or RTP or something?
With those 3" downpipes it will really open the system up nicely, your lists looks pretty solid. You will end up thinking something new/different once things start going on the car, but that is part of the never ending build. :p

Ron 12-04-2011 12:26 PM

Haha I'm sure I will.. damn mod bug. Nop, stock cats and 18'' FI exhaust. So its quite. I'm not gonna cut anything until after everything is installed. But yeah, ur right, replacing cats with downpipes should open it up.

I have the Berk exhaust on mine and I also have the downpipes. Before TT with HFC's it had the perfect exhaust note. Now it is a bit quiet. But the BOV's and spooling turbos make up for that.

I have toyed with the idea of removing the resonators as well. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts if you do remove the resonators on yours.
