FI engine liability
I tried to search which setup will be more liable- TT or SC
Yes, I know it all depends on the proper tuning, but let's assume that a very skilled tuner installed and tuned. Which kits will be more stable in a long run? We don't have anyone who drove more than 100k miles with their FI'ed kit, so it's all about assumption. ========Edit=== For the poll: change liability to reliability.. vodka did it..not me lol Last edited by sojirovskensi; 11-13-2011 at 01:13 AM. |

Sorry man, I'm not sure I follow your wording... Are you asking which kit will be the most reliable in the long run or which kit will be an actual liability down the road?

A sticky should be made about FI and reliability... There is one too many treads about it.

Sc stress the engine differently than TT. They will last on avg about the same given the same power levels. The problem with this comparison is that with the TT on our cars they make atleast 50more hp... On the stick motor that's alot. I just blew a motor in a parking lot not from boost but rather detonation from partial throttle. Granted my g37 has been through alot! De tuned it put down 478whp @ 9.5psi... Sc will put that down at a stage 2 higher boost application. If you want reliability spend an extra $5k and build the short block!

detonation is all about cooling, tuning, compression and psi. oil cooler plus better fans, richer tune with less advace + more part throttle tuning, moderate boost, and lower compression = reliability if you want to up the power you have to balance everything else if your going for supper reliable. Cheap, Reliable, Fast <-- pick 2 of the three and have a good shop do it.

Dam Bullitt you blew a motor. Sam has a post about the differences in the two when it comes to stress on the motor.

On the stock ECU you can only tune so much... Its under partial throttle and decel that we see detonation as a problem... That is were my motor blew... granted the motor in my G has a long history of abuse before I got it. To answer Soji's question yes and no... You can never guarantee a motor 100%... my stock 370z blew its motor with only 10k on the odometer! (NO MODS)... So with that said build your block and you are playing it very safe
