Forged Performance: 636whp G37 Coupe!!!
Hey everyone!
We've been extremely busy here at Forged wrapping up dozens of great builds over the past month or so. We wanted to share one of our G37 builds with the community. Brian came to us with a bone stock G37 coupe looking for a big power build on his daily driver. His goals were simple. Maximum power, pump gas, and no compromises for daily driving. We gladly accepted his challenge and put together a comprehensive build plan to meet those goals. The end result is one of our highest pump gas VQ37 builds we've done, all while retaining the 100% OEM nature of the car. No check engine lights, no weird startups, no funny idles ... nothing ... and all tuned with the factory ECU. On first glance you'd be hard pressed to find any power adders on the car. But one squeeze of that throttle pedal leaves little doubt that there is a monster under the hood! Here is a quick run down on this particular Forged Performance built and tuned G37. As always, all Forged Performance engine assemblies are built in house. We never outsource this critical function. • Forged Performance S1 Shortblock • Forged Performance Spec Extreme Duty Pistons• Greddy 20G Twin Turbo Kit • Greddy RZ BOVs • HKS Super Fire Spark Plugs • Injector Dynamics 725cc Injectors • Forged Performance Custom Return Fuel System • CJ Motorsports Twin Pump • HKS EVC 6 Boost Controller • OS Giken Triple Plate Clutch • Tein Flex Coilover System • Stillen Oil Cooler • Forged Performance Stainless Steel Brake Lines • DriveShaft Shop Level 5 Axles • HRE 560R Wheels, 20x10.5/20x9.5 Custom Painted Monster Candy Green • BFGoodrich KDW2 Tires • Motul Fluids • Evans Waterless Coolant • Forged Performance Custom Tune by Sharif@Forged This BEAST made 636whp on 93 octane on our low reading Dyno Dynamics! Videos or BS ;-)

Unfortunately, we don't have any vid of this one :(

Very nice work, can't say I like the wheels though.
|
Great results over there!!! I was curious what you guys were doing with a twin pump for a G37!
Very nice to see, thanks for sharing the build details. Currently picking apart the items for my own winter build so I like seeing whats already been done. I havent torn down my spare VHR motor yet. Are the L19s and the gaskets VHR specific or do they crossover from older VQs? |
I can't say I hate the wheels, but I'm not a fan of them either. Everything else is pretty bad ***
|
Thanks Charles!
The head studs do cross over. The main studs are different though. We opted for the Cosworth head gaskets on this one. |
What compression are you running with the pistons? Was the block sleeved as well? Still running stock displacement?
|
9.0:1 compression ratio in a non-sleeved block. Cylinders were bored .020 over

This one's a monster! Great job on the build.

I'm assuming a core exchange is part of the engine build process right? I know this sounds weird, but I'm very attached to my core and I don't want to give it up.

i am sure that they would allow you to do it either way.... core exchange or reuse core. just keep in mind that machine shops are generally slow turn-around... so if you send them your core, it could take several weeks before they get it back... and it could take a week or two before they have the time to start building it once its back. so your overall down time will be much greater.
with the VHR engine, I would only be concerned about keeping my core with the cylinder heads, personally. that is my plan. I have an entire spare VHR long block, but i will only be using the block casting and crank for my build. I will reuse my cars cylinder heads. Also, I like the idea of keeping my OEM core 100% intact and reuseable should i ever want to put it back in the car or if I blow up my built engine and want to put it stock and ditch the project LOL |

so are the VHR headgaskets the same as HR headgaskets? I wonder if the HR/VHR oil pumps can hold up at 8000rpm unlike the DE timebombs. |
That's a nice sleeper
|
Nice

The wheels are nice. I like seeing people do bold things on a car... Nice build... |
with a 700 hp G37 it would still be hot if the wheels were hot pink
