Aftermarket Oil Cooler Question for SC Z's
For you guys with SC's, is an oil cooler required if you're running FI in a daily driven Z? No track time, just DD with the occasional joy ride. Just wondering if an aftermarket oil cooler is necessary. I do live in Texas where the temps can get 100F+ in summer. Also what type would be sufficient if any?

Yes, you should consider an aftermarket oil cooler, especially with the dramatically increased HP associated with a supercharger.
These cars have oil temperature problems when pushed, the supercharger is going to add to that. It's inexpensive insurance, and with a thermostatic plate and proper installation, a great addition to your Z. |
Hell if you drive in hot summers and you like to push it then you should get an oil cooler even if you don't have an SC.

I wouldn't even say you should consider an oil cooler. I'd say it's mandatory. Texas can get pretty hot.

would a 19 or 25 row oil cooler be sufficient for a SC application as a DD with occasional joy ride?
|
Yeap, my GTM Stage II has a 25 row and it is fine.
|
Have a 25 row in mine and because of the position of the cooler it still gets hot. But unlike before it will cool down in five to ten minutes of clean air.
It needs a fan for the summer time and for the dragon... |

so a 34 row would be overkill?
