how fast is FIed Z?
Well, I know there are a lot of factors may vary the result, but I want to have some idea how fast FIed Z runs.
For example, GTM S/C stage 1's Z (420whp/350tq) runs 0-60 in xx sec, quartermile in xx sec. I am still debating if it is really worth FIing my Z. Once again, I would like to have some feeling about the numbers, Thanks! |
It's really all over the place, but I think it's safe to assume that 420whp on the Z would be low 4-sec to high 3 seconds on a street tire depending on the driver and conditions.
1/4 mile would likely be low 12s at 115+. This is again on a street tire. |
im hoping to go aleast 11.5' to 6's with my stage 2 . im going 12.42 now (all moter)
add 200 rwhp from the SC stage 2 and it may go faster time will tell. Z |
no way. A stage two on spring pressure which is around 450 rwhp should run 11.7s. Im just getting my things together on mine to take it to the track just for questions like this. If I can get it to hook on high boost setting which is 542 rwhp I think will be the most difficult thing to do on street tires im shooting for 11 flat or better. Traction will be the key.

Here is a good start for some of the FI builds & 1/4 mile times. LafitteZ, 11 flat is going to be very tough with street tires, you will probably get the MPH or close to a low 11 time but traction will be a huge problem. |
11.75 @ 127mph for me in 100+ degree track temps making 530whp SAE. On street tires btw.
|
Ive run a best on a DE running 12.23 @ 115.12 on street tires.I just need to pop on a pair of drag radials to get into the mid 11's cause i spin thru most of first thru second in a 5AT.

520-540rwhp will run a high 10.9 in the 1/4 if you can get traction and cut a 1.6 60' on slicks. im pretty much pulling those numbers from a buddies 350z 6MT who did a 10.9 with 520rwhp full weight in his 350z with slicks. he is very experienced at the drag strip with his 350z.
But more realistically, its going to typically be a mid 11 second pass unless you have the car setup well and have some practice. You can get these cars to mid 11's no problem. After that, you can increase the power all you want, but you are going to need to do lots of work on getting it down the track proper to do better, it starts getting really difficult after mid 11s with these cars. auto guys have it a little better, they just gotta work on getting the car to STICK to the pavement. I think the auto guys will be setting most the FI 370z standards at the drag strip. |
:iagree:
FI is def. worth it.. what other car under 40k can you get besides a 5.0 that you can drop 10k in and run mid 11's at 120+ and still be very DD friendly:driving: |

You can get a base 370 for ~28k. |

you can get 135i's for 39k OTD once you factor in setting up both cars, running 11.x is cheaper in the bmw |

Though if you get a base Z for ~31k OTD, you can DIY a TT install and probably come out cheaper than the 135... |

A 135i with sport or M package (whatever they call it) and a couple options is well over 40K the last time i played around on the bmw website and built one. Optioned "equally", the 135i is more $$ than the Z. Different type of car, but for the purposes of this exercise, I suppose it's price to get to 11's that matters more I suppose. |

ok we have established that the Z is not the only car that can run 11s with modifications and be DD friendly. moving on...

While 99% of people with a stock block twin turbo 370z are going to run mid-high 11's, it IS a 10 second car.
Twin turbos doesnt make the 370z a supercar killer, but it puts it right into this annoying category where its just as fast as most of the fastest cars you will run into on the road. Of course, cars get MUCH faster, but you dont really run into them. |
