What's Next For Me?
Hey guys!! I just got my car back from the Nissan dealership (I needed them to install my driver's side cat because I couldn't get it out). They charged me $420 just to do the install...apparently that is the going rate when an acetiline torch is needed <- sarcasm. Either way...glad it's done and over with now.
My question is what should I do next? I have a Stillen Gen3 intake and Berk HFC/CBE. Was thinking of doing the GTM SC in the future, but I drive a 7AT. Will the SC be ok on an automatic? If I wanted to do something quicker (wouldn't do a SC for a few years), what could I do? |
Hi Josh hope to see you at a local meet. You should come to the next Z club meeting at Nissan of Brandon on October 14th. Without building the 7AT it is a waiting game on how long it will last. Full bolt ons with a tune nets a decent amount of power that should hold you over until you get your forced induction.

Yes headers and a tune is all you have remaining. No one really knows how much the AT can handle, but from what I have seen with my time on the board I would be very careful. It's the only reason I have not went FI yet and probably won't.

So I called around to some shops today and they all quoted me right around $600 to install headers. That means I'm looking at around $1,200 just to add headers to my car. At this point, I'm not really sure it's worth it so I'm thinking that I may just get a tune and be done with modifying. I would imagine that even a single mount turbo would be too much for the 7AT?

The automatic transmission just need supporting mods. Transmission cooler and tune. With the uprev tune your able to tune the transmission. The transmission can handle 500whp with the supporting mods.
|
I have the UpRev tune on my list of things to do. So you think I should do the tune first and then I can mod more? What would you suggest?
|
What is your overall goal of the car and how much power you want to put out?
|
if you plan on going FI don't get the headers as there are no proven results yet. However, I have them, they kick *** and I'm happy I got them even if the install is a bitch.

Now that I have the FI cat-back, I need to re-dyno and have the tune tweaked a bit but I hope to see around 320rwhp which is about the most you will get with full bolt ons and a tune. In my opinion, it is the perfect amount of power for this car for a balance of power, control and balance. My dream is the GTM stage 2 supercharger though lol. |

I am more inclined to believe that it will only net you a few extra ponies at the most. *Do you have a dyno of the 309whp pull?* |
So I wanted to give an update. I decided to not go with the headers and get a tune instead. I talked to a guy here in Tampa (Z Fever) and they quoted me $595 which will include the license and tune. He said I'll get about 15 dyno pulls and it'll take about 2 hours to do the entire UpRev tune. Two questions, first what is Osiris and Cipher? Second, what have you guys done with your stock exhaust? I'd like to sell mine and cover the cost of this tune.
Thanks for any help! |
Try S&R also.

Sent you a PM...
People practically give the stock exhaust away. Keeping in mind the heat and humidity of Tampa, you should be able to see about 300 +/-5 to the tire with bolt on's. Check out my dyno thread (Proven Power dyno thread) for details. Email my buddy (see PM) for more info. |
