Forged Performance: Stillen SC Custom Tune and Review

This is actually the first Stillen SC we've gotten our hands on for tuning. This local client does much of his own work, and after wrapping up most of the installation he brought it down for me to tune.

Stillen provided a basic 91 octane UpRev map that was pretty rich out of the box which resulted in that pretty low 290whp baseline you see there. After a few hours on the dyno, the car was a completely different animal. Good kit, nice fitment, not too noisey and consistent power after tuning was completed. End result was 373whp (stock cats). For reference, a typical stock 370Z does about 250-260 on our Dyno Dynamics.

Enjoy the photos.

Great results with a good tune, would the car put down roughly 400whp on a dynojet then? It would be awesome if you guys had some video too!

Nice numbers. What's going on with all the missing body panels?

theDreamer 09-07-2011 11:52 AM

Sharif, adding this build to the finished build list.
What year is the car?
Transmission?
TQ?
8PSI?

Thanks.

Z looks low.. It may have needed help to get up and onto the dyno.

GaleForce 09-07-2011 05:29 PM

The SC kit looks better than I originally thought. I like the rims too. Vid would be awesome! In the meanwhile I'll wait for the answer to the other questions.

Customer had just finished the install, so bumper was off and new side skirts were out for painting. And leaving the stuff off did make it a lot easier to mount the car, given it's very low ride height

This is the one boost level....9psi. Our dyno reads very low, so this is a pretty solid number.

Once John has the car completely back together, I'll make sure he brings it by for a few photos. :)

This is so much more important than people realize...heavy wheels SUCK.

ANMVQ 09-08-2011 07:31 AM

Desent numbers Did you return it for 93? Or leave it at 91?

Unclemeaty 09-08-2011 07:42 AM

Sharif,

By comparison, I know you guys have a few GTRs roaming around there. What does a stock GTR pull on your dyno?

Ryan@Forged 09-08-2011 08:36 AM

The tuning was done for 93 octane :)

Stock GTR's put down around 380-400whp on our dyno.

Whats a ballpark figure on what you guys would charge to install and tune this kit?

Same question for me please! PM would be appreciated. Please break down to tune only, and install plus tune.

I have always loved the Stillen SC kit's looks... I know there were some issues with reliability, etc. But I think it may just come down to a good tune? I have been looking at the Stillen kit or the GTM Stage 1 kit, but I do like how the Stillen kit "shows" it a little more.... not too blingy, but I at least can see the sweet manifold, and the Vortech blower peeking in there :) In the GTM kit, it looks maybe "too" stock :D

Congrats on the excellent SC build, I never realized how good the Stillen SC looked. Vid would be very much welcomed. Those are some "phat" wheels btw.

In the second pic, they almost looked photshopped they're so damn big.

anyway, nice #'s and a great install as usual from FP.

I feel the same way, the only downside is if you get the stillen kit, you won't be able to the GT-R manifold conversion whenever it comes out. It's funny how the stillen kit is becoming popular again, lol

:iagree: they look huge! More like 22 to me; likely loss of punch with those on. Build looks fantastic overall.
