SC Question
Hey,
Sorry if this may be a stupid question, but considering a GTM SC possibly down the road. Either stage 1 or 2. My main question is, how safe is this to do? Should I expect issues down the road? Also, what else needs to be upgraded for this or can stock parts be ok? Sorry for the vague questions, just curious about all that would be involved... Safe is all in the tune, both stage 1 & 2.
Things to get: -Oil cooler -Gauges -Clutch (optional but will needed at some point) Beyond that each build is individual. You can do test pipes or LTH if you want a more open exhaust system, and any cat will burn up over time (stock or HFC).

The tuner kits leave some things out like fuel system and tune. That allows a shop, or customer, that may have more experience with a different brand to use whatever one they prefer.

Haha, I was in your position when I first started out looking into FI, but there is never a excat answer that you are looking for. Once you start boosting there is just a much bigger chance of engine failure, I just learned to live with the fact that something might happen. That being said, there are ways to reduce the possibility of engine failure, such as a lower boost and safer tunes, but always be prepared. Now to the price estimate, if you want SC, budget around 15g for the entire kit with all the gauges and accessories installed and tuned. That leaves a bit extra is for the just incase of if something goes wrong.

Really? I thought the parts alone would be 8.5 to 9 with the kit, oil cooler, clutch, and gauges. My G is at GTM right now for the stage 2 build and I'm spending close to 15g on the whole kit.

Kit is around 7800, install should run about 1-2k and the other parts should total around 2k probably depending on what you want to do exactly. So a bit over 10k for the stage 2 kit and such.
It all depends on what you want exactly also, if you want something 'unique' with your build or extra then cost start to rise quickly, say a meth kit, or gauge setup with custom screen and output, etc. Not saying you cannot spend 15k for a SC setup but that is on the high side for what most need.

Hum, your price is a lot cheaper then what I had, not sure tho. My build includes the stage 2 kit, with head up engine oil and trans cooler, valve body upgrade, blitz plus a boost gauge, and all that added, I'm pretty close to 15k.

My stage 1 SC turn key kit was 7K with oil cooler, thermostatic adaptor, Boost Gauge, AFR Gauge. If I had someone else install it I would be looking at 9K. But I did the install myself and saved 2K...
