Haha, I was in your position when I first started out looking into FI, but there is never a excat answer that you are looking for. Once you start boosting there is just a much bigger chance of engine failure, I just learned to live with the fact that something might happen. That being said, there are ways to reduce the possibility of engine failure, such as a lower boost and safer tunes, but always be prepared. Now to the price estimate, if you want SC, budget around 15g for the entire kit with all the gauges and accessories installed and tuned. That leaves a bit extra is for the just incase of if something goes wrong.
