ur only option really would be a collector sticker, where you would only have to have the odometer working, its easy to do...

And how exactly would I go about getting one of these "collector stickers"?

you need collector car insurance, follow there rules, go to the DMV and ask for a collector car registration and voucher and then when you have those items, you can come to the inspection part and get the sticker...insurance is real cheap for a collector car! so nice

So if it's so cheap and easy how come everyone doesn't do it?

There is a chip not only have I seen the new stickers it is not like a real chip like a piece of aluminum, I not only have seen them but when my friends got pulled over the officer put something to the windshield and brought up a lot of info. Believe me you are no longer going to be able to get those counter fit ones.

Maybe the "chip" is to insure that sticker is legit- it doesn't seem like it would make sense for a sitcker to have a "chip" in to store info about a car.

i never applied for it but i do know that you are limited to mileage per year, must own the car and i believe it has to qualify for why its being "collected"

i see the stickers everyday of my life, i been in the facility and i fix the emissions machines around my area of stations, doin this since 2002...theres no chip, jsut a bar code...you can believe what you want on the chip idea but if anyone was smart they would listen to the motor vehicle inspector typing this lol...
before the stickers get placed on a vehicle, on our computer there is all of the vehicles info from our data site and once we scan the sticker before placement on the window all of the cars info gets registered to that specific sticker..so when your friend got pulled over with his "new" sticker the bar code got scanned...
any other inspection questions???

LOL WERD!!!! in NJ, you dont literally pay for the inspection..you pay for it with the payment for the registration, i believe the state pays our private owners"parsons corp" $28 per inspection which comes out of reg fees...
soooo with the $28 plus cost to make the sticker, how cost effective is a second security option for a "chip" or "foil"...just doesnt work...

bigaudiofanat 07-12-2009 10:02 PM

K man LOL K I have seen them and all so whatever chip or bar code they are all registered in the system.

That's probably the hard part, how can a 370z be a "collectors car"?
