Cheapest FI setup
I am gettin the bug to go FI. At the same time my wallet disagrees with spending $8,000+ to get my car boosted. My question is, has anyone gotten a turbo/supercharger setup worked out for less? if so, share your recipe! :driving:

Cheap and forced induction do not go together.
The best you can do is a stage I SC, install yourself and tune. Issue with that though is you will have other extra costs. |
Fast, Cheap, reliable. you can only have 2 which means one will have a impact. Do some searching on the forums. This question has been asked multiple times and if your worried about spending that money on a good kit your on the wrong boards. Pretty much as far as I know all use FI people here went with a reputable kit and paid the extra for it

i would love to go with a supercharger, but the swapping of the fuel pump, oil lines, etc.. along with a 24+ hour install time kinda scared me away from doing it myself
|
A TT install is going to be longer if you do it yourself, especially if you do not drop the motor.
Also, a TT kit requires more with tapping for oil, fuel, etc. Honestly, plan for 10k, it will get you going with a SC setup with some extras or a basic TT setup. |
Cheap FI would be trading in your car for mod-friendly factory boosted vehicle :)
Next up is nitrous, and then supercharger. Definitely install it yourself or find friends who are gearheads. You're right... I'm praying the economy won't tank to the point I'd question my job security for the next few months or years! |
already have a factory boosted vehicle. volvo sleeper running 18psi  thats what gave me the idea. however these 370's arent too shabby for an na. might have to just live without boosties. MAYBE i cant have everything i want...

o man electric superchargers. ordering that asap. gettin a NAWS button, and some decals too. I live life a quarter mile at a time... as long as there is no danger to manifold

For the cost of going FI, an LSx swap makes way more sense to me.
Nevermind, though I was on that other Z car forum... Still... The cost of FI on these cars is very steep. If you can't do it right you're only going to run into problems. |
