Also different when you live with it day-to-day

Ok change of plans after talking to the guys over a je imports going with the stillen supercharger they even gave me a $500 buck discount so money talks lol....

From looking at the kit I can't tell the size of the pulley that comes with it. But I know vortech has a nice number of pulleys for the v-3 same as my v-2 on my mustang I am running a 2.87 on that......but I am also running a larger crank pulley on my mustang

I wonder if that pulley next to the supercharger pulley on the back of that bracket could be increased in size to turn the supercharger pulley a little faster just a thought

Ordering the stillen hfc also

Stillen supercharger + stillen hfc + ark cat-back exhaust will be tuned by the guys a je imports coming soon

The pulley that is normally swapped out on the Stillen kit is the one on the front side of the bracket that is run off of the main belt (via the crank pulley) although I am sure that you can swap any of the 3 pulleys (front side drive pulley, jackshaft pulley or supercharger drive pulley) to get what you are looking for.

The standard pulley that comes with the kit (approximately 8 PSI at sea level) is right at 3.125 inches (I have that one sitting here on my desk). The Stillen replacement pulley that provides around 9 psi of boost at sea level is right at 2.9 inches (that one is on my car now).

I am thinking of swapping it out for something around 2.5 inches as I am at 5400 feet ASL here in the Denver area and am only able to make 7.2 PSI out of the 9 PSI puley. As you stated, Vortech has a good selection of replacement pulleys and 928 Motorsports also makes a nice selection of replacement pulleys.

Good luck and I hope that you have the same good experience that I have had. The custom tune is definitely the way to go.

The Stillen kit uses a 7 rib pulley set up vortech only sells a 7 rib 3.12 pulley thats it. If you look on there site as well as 928 motorsports you will find 6,8,and 10th pulleys. I think you would be better off going with a cog pulley set up on the back ,or a larger crank pulley instead of smaller pulley than the Stillen one. If you go smaller than you are asking for belt slippage problems.

Cool...

Will be nice to see another SC Z in the area. Hopefully the Stillen will be trouble free.

I believe that it is actually a 6 "rib" pulley as there are 6 "ribs" (7 channels). The pictures of the 6 rib pulleys on the 928 sight have the same number of ribs as the pulley on my desk which is 6. I could be wrong but I always thought that ribs referred to the raised ribs on the pulley and not the number of ribs on the belt.

I have a 928 2.87 pulley as well as a vortech 3.12, 3.33. This is all left over parts from my 350 vortech kit.It won't fit when I first got the Stillen kit I tried using it. The only pulleys I was able to use were the cog pulleys. The Stillen pulleys are wider this has to do with the belt being wider on the 370 from the 350.

Are the pulleys you are referring to run from the main drive belt or the belt that runs around the jackshaft pulley and the SC pulley? I am assuming that you are talking about the pulley that is run off of the main belt. I still need to do a little research before pulling the trigger on a pulley.

I am interested in your cog pulley setup but am not sure if I want to go that route at this point. Had I known about it before my install I might have gone that route but I am not sure if I want to go through the hassle of removing all the stuff necessary to install the cog setup instead of swapping out the front side pulley which is a very simple operation. BTW, what was the total cost of the cog setup if you don't mind me asking?

Yes I am talking about the main belt on the front. I will take a picture of the 928 6 rib 2.87 and the Stillen 9 pound pulley tomorrow ,and post it to show the difference. My cog set up cost me about $250 for the pulleys and cog belt. I have know problem sharing the information If you decide to switch to a cog set up you will need to get the 928 impeller if you was going to go with the same pulley's I have. With the 8 pound/3.12 Stillen pulley you will make more boost with a cog set than the 9 pound Stillen pulley I haven't tried this combo yet.

Thanks for the info Squeeze. I may hit you up for more depending on which way I go.

with the v-2 on my mustang the kit came with 3.60 pulley 6rib for 8psi

i was getting a lot of slippage as i went from 3.6-3.33 then 2.95 so i opted. for an 8-rib pulley kit and the 2.87 (2.87=14psi @ 6100 rpms and 16.5-17 psi @ 7200 rpms)

with that 2.87 pulley i was at 8psi @ 4400 rpms

mustang mag did a project were some guy put a waste gate on his vortech

he got the ysi blower dropped the pulley size down so that the blower would make max boost up top like 20 or 22 psi or so added the waste gate to bleed the boost off at like 15psi or so

the dyno chart looked like a turbos dyno chart he was hitting hit 15 or so psi mark very early in the rpms

here it is Vortech Centrifugal Supercharger Wastegate Install - Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine
