Thx dude, means a lot coming from you. I love the sick turbo set up you got, I've been tempted a few times to go that route. we could chat about TT off this thread ;)

JB-370z 05-23-2011 09:00 AM

Im sure you will get it worked out.

98intrigue 05-23-2011 10:11 AM

SPOHN 05-23-2011 10:47 AM

Nice to meet you Ryan. Love the car. You were right your car wasn't loud....when we were pushing it.:icon17: good luck to you.

98intrigue 05-23-2011 12:31 PM

Well, the power steering pump just blew. Nissan can't get one for 3 days and it's $500. I'm trying to think of what I'm going to do.

Haha smart ***. Good meeting you too, Chris.

SPOHN 05-23-2011 01:22 PM

Tell them to take one off there car and give to you? I'm defiantly looking into a cooler for this now. Do you believe this was the only issue with the power steering pump?

So besides engine trouble your ps pump went? Do you know why?
Good luck!!

Nitrouz 05-23-2011 01:52 PM

Gotta pay to play bro...you know the story all too well. Especially now that you're treading unchartered territory.

Best of luck man. I'm sure everything will get sorted soon.

HKYStormFront 05-23-2011 04:06 PM

that sucks ryan! sorry to hear that :( it was good to meet you tho, stay tuned for pics!

Flyboy 05-23-2011 04:11 PM

Did the turbo get the PS pump too hot?

They did have a car here and offered that to me, but then said it would be cheaper for me to just overnight a new one. Had I used one off of their car, I'd have to pay double the labor and would have a PS pump that just went through a Dragon beating this weekend as well.

Yes. It's not engine trouble, it's the stupid throttle bodies. If you do a search on google, you will see that this is a common problem on the 350s as well. These throttle bodies fail randomly...big time thumbs down.

Thanks, Alex. Unfortunately/fortunately, I had pretty much 0 issues with boosting my G35. That led to false hopes of having the same luck with this car.

Good meeting you too, Patrick! Thank you so much for the photoshoot...I can't wait to see the pictures!

Also, thank you very much for donating the JWT popcharger to Veronica. I'm sure she really appreciated it. You should have seen how dried up her ancient HKS filter was. The thing was literally wasting away and a few pieces got sucked into the MAF sensor, causing it to go into limp mode.

One of the lines was sitting against the uppipe. That caused the line to blow. 150 miles later, my car went into limp mode for the Throttle Position Sensor(s). At the same time, the pump had seized. As soon as it got to Z1, they managed to get the car to start and the pulley on the pump snapped off.

oh yea, i saw what was left of that HKS thing she had. i was glad to help. i couldn't bring myself to take any money from her for something i'd won for free. zdayz staff looks after it's participants

as for the pump, that suuuucks! hope they get it all taken care of asap.

Isamu 05-24-2011 02:29 AM

damn man!! sorry to hear of all the troubles.. hopefully this will get worked out soon and you will be back out boosting like crazy!

b1adesofcha0s 05-24-2011 03:02 AM

Good luck getting everything fixed man!

Ok so bit of a noob question here, what are the advantages if a single turbo kit over a twin turbo? Is it just cost or other things as well? Thanks

Blades-- there are quite a few benefits to running a single turbo. Probably best to discuss most of the out of Ryan's thread:icon17:

Single turbo setups are usually cheaper and easier to setup, and they tend to be easier to shoehorn in, as the systems are typically much less complex.

The big reason a lot of people run a single turbo is to make big power numbers. You don't usually get the quick response of a twin turbo, but once boost hits, you can make much bigger numbers.

I think your the only 370 I didn't get to meet this past weekend :(

MASS produced single turbo systems are generally less expensive than MASS produced twin turbo systems because they require less accessories (turbo, wastegate, blow off valve).

Twins typically include 2 smaller turbos that produce better low end and mid range power. A single turbo typically includes 1 larger turbo that takes a bit longer to spool, but will provide a lot of top end power. I prefer the power delivery of a single turbo since I'm into drag racing. Twins are better suited for most road courses.

Haha, yeah, a custom build is always an expensive beast.

I stopped by a couple times, but I think you were pretty mobbed with people most of the time:icon17:.

I was even more impressed with the quality of the install in person-- I really hope you get the throttle position stuff worked out. I believe the Z will respond better to a single turbo setup than it has to the twins.

Dzel 05-24-2011 09:12 AM

I agree I'm looking to getting a SC but if they get the single kit worked out. I'll go that way. Depends on the numbers at 8psi

Ryan I saw the car this weekend. I loved the stance of the car. I have a few pics I'll try and add sometime.

ClemsonWill 05-24-2011 10:32 AM

Finally got a chance to catch up on this thread. Sorry to hear about the PS pump. But on a positive note, you have a really impressive car. I can't wait to see the pictures and videos.

Thanks, Will. Another positive note, I've got to sleep in an extra hour Mon/Tues morning.

I can't wait to get home to edit my photos and GoPro...although I didn't take a single picture of my car. There is one GoPro video where I mounted the camera on the fang of the bumper...you can hear the turbo spool, wastegate, BOV, and it was the hardest run I did all weekend. It's pretty intense...I hit 100mph:driving:

I realize that I could have easily googled it, but who wants to do that at 4 am :p

Well, Nissan's driver was sick today and couldn't deliver the part. Z1 had a guy call in sick and someone else didn't come in, so they are short handed. The service manager offered me his car to drive down to Atlanta an hour away and get the part, but it's too late for me to make it back home for work tomorrow anyways. So I'm stuck here another day.

NA&CH 05-24-2011 04:06 PM

You sir are crazy :D I didn't feel like reading all 24+ pages. I know lazy SOB. Is she done?

Very nice on being different :D

Chris

Ron 05-24-2011 04:14 PM
