Hmmm... What kind of coils and wheels you running?

Everything is listed if you click on the link in my sig

Someone buy the wheels and coils so he can have a sudden change of heart and build the motor! I think that's a brilliant idea.

chuckd05 11-15-2011 12:41 AM

this makes me cringe.. after seeing the rest of this thread I missed from a few weeks back until now, i think you should fix this beoch, sell the wheels/coils ... and continue on... a Z with 400 whp I'm sure shocks everyone, Ive realized going to a BMW that people look down on the Z... and it pisses me off to no end, because i know with my Z and the bolt ons I had, 90% of the cars in the price range they think out preform the Z, would not of been able to compete on any level really....

Going to 135i the speed is certainly the best aspect that i like over the Z (room is a close second) , and you have that with the Z plus the Z's uniqueness ... your ingredients to you Z have made it a masterpiece, just fix n keep it, i take back everything i said to you earlier...

refund lip and diffuser/sills money and sell the wheels and coils and your good to go!!!

SeeyaBud86 11-15-2011 10:29 AM

Definitely don't just get rid of the car because you got into an accident. If it didn't ruin anything with your kit just keep it. Some random person would probably buy it, and run it into the ground. I'm sure that thing feels f'in nuts. Keep it man. I've contemplated selling the Z for something else, but nothing out there is like the Z. A Z06 is the only car out there worth replacing the Z with, and I don't have 70k lol. (My parents did so I drive theirs.)

Trust me... I wouldn't get rid of it just because a damaged bumper. The entire ordeal I've gone through with the turbo kit fabrication and r&d has been hell.

I have found an '06 Z06 with 21k miles on it for 42k locally... they have really grown on me lately, but I don't think I can deal with that horrible interior and the fact that I'd be driving a 6 year old car. The Viper was my dream car when I was younger...not so much anymore, but I found my favorite color (Steel Grey) with only 27k miles on it for $42k. Then again...it's a 12 year old car. Then I've thought about an NSX...right back to an even older car.

In the end, what will I be happy with? I love the interior of the Z. I love the looks of my Z. I loved the boost of my Z. What does that add up to? Only time will tell. I'll get my bumper fixed hopefully next week and get an appointment at Nissan.

NOooo!!! I'm sorry to hear about the unfortunate mishap. I feel the same as well... spent too much on this car. It's fun, but the clutch issue means I have to dump $530 in labor cost to get the disk replaced in hopes it'll remedy the gearbox issues. Gotta bust the OT hours to quickly pay off so I can continue saving up for the downpayment on a house!

Haha, I've been working OT since I started my new job 2 months ago. I love not being salary anymore! Today was payday, I sold my coils for $1000, and insurance told me they are sending me a $900 check today. Today was a GOOD day  There is hope....

Nitrouz 11-17-2011 10:10 PM

dude I just got caught up with this......don't sell it bro...who am I going to look up to now?

But I also don't recommend building the motor if it hasn't ran right. My 2 cents... as I've sunken an enormous amount of money on a Z before too. The only reason to build would be for more power, not to FIX an issue. If an issue cannot be fixed as is, then after you build the motor, you'll spend even more money on FIXING, because the root cause wasn't determined.

Trust me...there are tons more thrown rods / blown motors than this forum shows. A couple months ago I saw first hand of a GTM TT 370z installed and tuned by Sam, blow a hole in the block after 2 weeks of delivery to the customer.

If you can get a spare stock block, use that. Just detune a bit for your fuel for more flexibility to ambiant temp / fuel / elevation, etc. adjustments.

I'd hate to see this car go...but I'd also hate to see your wallet lighten with nothing to gain.

Just thought I'd give you my 2 cents. If you wanna talk or discuss, PM me bro. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Haha IF it ever comes down to letting go (hope not), I'm going to take a break from the car hobby for awhile to focus on the house and hopefully settle down (out the window at the moment :crying:).

Plans with your car? Avoiding Mustang, eh? Haha... my next car will probably be a 200x TSX.

boo.........I know the feeling. If I divide my salary by the number of hours I work, I get paid very close to my assistant.......:(

Grats on selling them coils bro!

KingZee 11-18-2011 07:23 PM

Been reading this thread like a book for the past couple days and I just finished. Can't believe the ups and downs you've had and the fact that you've somehow managed to keep your cool through it all. I admire your resilience and wish you luck with whatever you decide to do going forward. (build the motor!)

This thread is classic.

Thanks for your insight, Alex! Coming from you...that means a lot. I just got back from picking up an OEM oil pan and OEM front bumper. Project Kill Z is tomorrow...turbo kit, injectors, exhaust, and manifold are coming off and all the OEM pieces are going back on. Then I'll have my fingers crossed with Nissan. If all goes well, I'll probably reinstall everything and get it tuned this time. I'm so back and forth on the situation, I seem bipolar:icon14:

See, I try to imagine myself getting out of the car hobby...I don't think it will ever happen. NO mustang! Haha. I'd love to have a TSX as a daily.

Between my M-F job and overtime, my side valet job, and rent from my roommate... I still manage to wonder where all my money goes. :icon17: Have you gotten a VIN for the bull yet? I saw my first one at the Tampa International Auto Show yesterday. I'm in love:yum:

Thank you very much! It's nice hearing people reading through this thread and enjoying my car's life story. I hope this will not be the end. I like my Z too much because I know all the problems I've had are rooted to Lutz Performance, not the Z in general.

Nissan better hook it up damnitt! Good luck man!
