What clutch are the turbo people running?

I'm glad to see that people are having good luck with the stock clutch. I'm with toner. I'll be running the stock one until I need to change it.

I find it strange that you guys are having luck with the stock clutch. My car has only 3500 miles on it and has been boosted since 3000 and it slips. I can get a couple of pulls out of it thats it.

Now if I baby it the clutch doesnt have a problem I am getting rid of it soon.

i agree with squeeze... so far every car that we've boosted needed a clutch prior or during steady state tuning. stock clutches are already slipping during tuning on the dyno, i'm amazed that some of you are holding up.

i wanted to verify it on nigel's car, so when his car had the TT kit installed, I instructed my tech to not install the Giken clutch to see if how long his stocker can hold up for. lets just say it didnt make it past tuning. Granted he could still drive on it while babying it on the streets, but if you laid on the gas pedal and did some spirited driving, it was slipping.

Yeah, the stocker is horrible for launching. I think for simple daily driving you might get better longevity out. But for spirited use, we like the OS Giken Twin Plate. It's the last clutch you'll buy for the VQ37.

I don't have any experience with OS Giken on the Z, but it was the truth on my (Euro CA18DET) S13 Fastback. If it is anything like the one I had on the Z, then it will be the money in traffic or during high performance driving.

i have tried different clutches on a lot of cars , both import and domestic , and i never seen a better clutch feel than this one , but the car is almost new so i didnt drive it much , but i cant tell u this , it holds up more than fine for daily driving and insane driving
this combo is the best so u can be headache free for atleast 100kmiles

My Z isn't boosted but the stock clutch has taken plenty of abuse launching. ~100 track launches and half of them were @4,000 rpm. (knock on wood)

When I had it taken out it was still usable (no slipping), I put in a new OEM clutch for good measure (installed lightweight flywheel). no complaints from me on the stock clutch.

How necessary is a new CSC? I am looking at an OS Giken Twin plate and thinking I need a new CSC as well...

I thinki depends on how you drive. If you are getting a new clutch might as well throw one of those bad boys in there while the trans is droped. If you plan on upping the boost right away I think a new clutch is a must. I have been at 6.5psi for a long time so my oem gear works just fine. Might as well have some fun with the oem clutch before getting a new.

The OSGiken clutch is one of the hardest on the CSC. It will blow your stock one quickly so just go with the upgraded one right away...
