Any estimates on how much power and torque the stock internals and transmission can withstand?

Z eliminator 03-04-2011 07:40 AM

" twins will smoke a SC any day or the week "
We will see about that. It should be a good run in the 1/4 mile.
if Jnaut put a stage 2 GTM on his car it would run easy 11.4's.
Mine should go at least 11.5's when ever Sam dilivers it to me.

SPOHN 03-04-2011 08:25 AM

So your saying this is the first GTM kit to be "physically" installed on the east coast for a Nismo?

hey danny unfortunately i dont have anything at the moment besides a stock one lol. def get that car out here... would love to make a nice vid of you and jeff's (nismo370) car this saturday... its supposed to be real nice and no rain.

we're confident enough in saying that 550rwhp would be the most and that's on borrowed time. probably 1-2 years daily driven. understand this is all an estimate based on a seeing vq37 internals.

we can confidently say low 500's would last a good 40-50k miles, assuming the car gets maintained and taken care of very well.

P.s: everyone knows Twins will spank a Supercharger any day of the week!!
Thought I stir things up. -that's the direction I'll be going (T.T) in the near future.

LOL, except in the east coast we'll 'run what we brung' and spank most of those pretty little trailer queens from the west. :stirthepot:

...dont sleep on the charger. Trust me, I'm a winner.

Side note: This is all in good fun obviously...I hope no one is gettng butt hurt!

That's really not bad at all. Aside from Supra's I don't know of too many cars in the price range of the Z that can withstand close to twice the amount of power from the factory on stock internals. I guess the 4G63 DSM's were good like that, but they were far smaller motors.

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys do with 400+ rwhp? Drag racing? Highway pulls? My angle is auto-x and road courses/time attacks so most of my mods will be brakes, suspension, etc. The car is stock and I'll only be doin bolt-ons and keeping it all motor. I consider myself an intermediate level competitive driver and even from the factory this car is terrific in terms of power. What's more, on a day to day basis I dont really find anywhere to punch it for more than a few hundred feet. Idk what i'd do with all that power. Plus it's rwd power. Even in a GT-R around a track you need to be a fairly advanced driver to get the most out of it and have multiple laps to even get used to the car and how much power it has.

I'm not disparaging anyone's desire to go FI and make a buttload of power, but I am supremely confident that very few, if any people driving cars with this much horsepower can do much more than hold on for dear life in a straight line. That being said, if straight line power is the goal, why not get large displacement american V8 that makes more power out of the box, is cheaper to mod, and mod for mod makes more power? Again, to each his own. Just wondering about the thought processes here.

In for dyno sheet.

rh_334 03-04-2011 09:50 AM

So are you saying this is the first 370Z Nismo with a GTM TT INSTALLED on the East Coast? Because that may be true, but there is one in ATL but wasn't installed there.

And also i noticed in your sig "#1 GTM Installer" "#1 Uprev Tuner"

How many GTM Kits have you installed?

How many cars have you tuned with Uprev? NA and FI?

How long have you been working on VQs? I have been around several years and have never even heard of your shop. So i assume you have no experience with the previous platform (VQ35)

rh_334 03-04-2011 09:53 AM

And as far as stock internals go its not the RWHP that kill internals, idk why shops post about how much RWHP a car can hold, seems like that would know better. TQ is an actual force, HP is just a calculation based on TQ. As far as TQ the stock internals can hold i would say the VQ37 is very similar to the VQ35 but it makes drastically more HP due to better flow/efficiency

SPOHN 03-04-2011 09:55 AM

The question has been asked three times and went unanswered. But stormcrow was the first GTM TT Nismo on east coast. But yea it was installed at GTM though. I don't want to take nothing away from the op. Just don't want to see someone come down hard the them.

This is why a lot of Honda/Acura enthusiasts choose to stay all motor with their mods and their engines last forever despite being beaten on daily (especially since they make very little torque all motor). I'm keeping my Z all motor and I'm looking forward to seeing the sure to follow dyno wars. I just hope threads dont start popping up about internals failing.

i was thinking same thing.

Still always exciting to see these cars

Your so wrong rh_334 why are you trying to put down a shop you apparently seem to know NOTHING about.
