HAHA. Never too far off topic to talk about porn. But, no I haven't met her. Sorry.
Nogood, that's what I'd be afraid of too! **BUMP BUMP** "Boost = -1psi"

They're not hanging lower than the muffler would, but just imagine that the hanger breaks when you hit a hard pot hole and the turbo smacks the edge of the pothole... I'm not saying that it's likely that this would happen, but it's still a thought.
I've seen some cool rear mount installs, though, that built the turbo into the muffler (to hide them for the most part) and fit just fine.

You probably wont pass emissions with any turbo system.... and no I wouldnt run a cat with a rear mount system. A friend of mine has one on his 350 that we put together for about 3k. He has been running the piss out of it for about a year now with no probs. He has the VQ35DE and hit 390whp on 8psi.
He doesnt drive in the rain so no worry about water, and his filter gets just as dirty as before with it in the front. Plus he doesnt have to worry about moving power steering lines or frying anything that might be in the general vacinity of the turbo..... Oh and he is at full boost around 3200...... |

The STS system is actually designed to be installed cat back. STS actually has the best chance of getting CARB certification and have already done so on several of their kits. I didn't go with STS because they have not done an HR/VHR motor yet.
For those thinking about being the first, here is a C&P from an email I got from them: Hi Terry, Here is some Video of some of the 350-Z's and G-35's that we have out there..... Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions!!! Thanks, 1.) dead link 2.) http://www.ststurbo.com/sts_video 3.) YouTube - STS PROMO 4.) http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...4e012b0039.htm 5.) Well the problem for STS is that anyone who has half a brain and know about FI can fab their own kit up for WAY cheaper than what they are charging and with alot better quality. I have only seen 1 kit that came directly from them and I could have probably put something better together from a junk yard. The ONLY thing that STS has done right is the oiling system for the turbo but if you are mechanically inclined you can find a way to get oil to the turbo in the back of the car.....

The thing that gets me is that people are strapping on a turbo (or any other forced induction) to an engine that has 11:1 compression. That's just asking for it to blow up...
I remember the rule of thumb is 8:1 for blowers. I can't imagine he amount of octane boost one would need to run for 11:1 to prevent detonation / pre-ignition, if it'd even run correctly on 91...(since the car already takes 91...) I dunno, I guess I'm not THAT into power. This car will break loose with an automatic transmission up into 3rd gear...that's plenty of power. After that, it's a matter of getting it to the pavement and stay there... |
