Wow thats a very long time I am curious to see what a stage 2 of the blower can do as well.

I knew going into it that it would be a while. They are using my car as a test car.

Got you I know most of that time has been taken up cause Sam was waiting for the stage 2 unit. I didnt know your car was being used for testing.

Fist of all let me say that I have the utmost respect for Sam and the entire GTM team.

I noticed people in the SC thread stating that if one wants a GTM product then they wait for it to be ready, or it's ready when Sam says it's ready etc.

However, unless I'm mistaken, I believe that Sam did state that the SC Stage II kit would be released or announced at the end of March. Granted he's busy and that's great. But un update on the issue I feel is warranted.

No harm intended.

jran76 04-25-2011 01:46 PM

I agree with the above, but being around Nissan's and GTM for a long time, I know that:
A. GTM is not great with updates until things are done (I don't really blame them as it just gets everyone even more worked up). Once done, they usually provide very thorough information.
B. They are always a behind on projects like this. Again, I understand this as it is due to customer cars that pay the bills, and development and part delays that happen with any project like this.

SAM@GTM 04-25-2011 03:08 PM

This is a valid question and no offense taken. To summarize what the delay in this process is, we are trying to give the best product and design possible for the stage 2 setup. We received the supercharger 2 months ago and we could have produced a stage 2 kit within 2 weeks if we would have reused the majority of the stage 1 components like the intake and piping. Instead, we wanted to give the stage 2 the best intake design possible which has resulted in a lot more time required to do that. I think our ambition to offer a superior product overrides our desire to release a product onto the market that could be better. Because of that, we run into these delays but it will be worth it in the end.

Thanks for the information Sam.

I had prepared an off topic response for "fuct", but I guess the moderators beat me to it.

christian370z 04-25-2011 06:36 PM

And this is why I am inclined to invest in a GTM FI kit. It is done right with all the factors taken into consideration before it is shipped to the customer.

roplusbee 04-25-2011 07:35 PM

Most def. I was going to wait it out and go with the S2 SC kit, but I opted to go with the TT kit. Gonna have Zerolift do my install and tune, but I will be watching closely for the specs/results of this kit as well.

NewYorkJon34 04-25-2011 08:08 PM

Cool Sam, thanks for the info but is there an time estimate for when the kit should be ready? I ask so I know when to ready my money for this kit, not to pressure u :)

GUTCH 04-26-2011 02:38 AM

Sam, this may be an easier question to answer:

Will an automatic transmission upgrade be released to coincide with the announcement of the stage II SC kit? I ask because as we know, some autos are struggling with the power of the stage I kit.

Mr&Mrs 04-27-2011 12:33 AM

^ my main reason for doing body upgrades until something is done for the AT.

SAM@GTM 04-27-2011 03:32 PM

We have made some great progress in the transmission development. Currently, we have factory replacement parts upgraded clutches that will allow us at least 20% torque capacity increase and we are just finalizing the hard parts aspect (drums, pistons, etc) which will allow us to add additional clutch plates and friction surfaces. We're trying to keep quiet on this so that we aren't bombarded by "is it done yet?....how about now?....now?"

Overall, it is looking very promising. Our biggest problem as usual, is there's simply not enough hours in the day...even when I don't sleep.

With that being said, i think this would be the thing for my AT Z.... In for Results!!

Mr&Mrs 04-27-2011 09:00 PM

Why cant people be more patient! At least it seems the AT is getting some love finally!

Hang in there man I'm sure all your stuff from gtm will be good products in the end.

If I may ask how come no turbo kit if I may ask since you have been waiting so long ?

Z eliminator 04-28-2011 10:05 AM

I ordered and paid for it Feb 16, 2010. I like the SC better. I have a modified stillen Sc on my 2003 and it does not make a lot of power but up to 140 km/hr it just goes like stink. The sound of the blower at 7100 rpm @10 lbs boost is increadable with the radom cats.

I understand the stage 2 unit should be a nice unit. If I had to guess I would say it will be 450whp +. I cant wait to see the results of the kit when it comes out.

This makes sense, but what is it about the STG 2 blower that requires so much re-work? It doesn't seem like the STG 1 kit is making a lot of compromises in terms of air flow, cooling capacity (intercooler), etc. Is the new SC substantially different in configuration (e.g. compressed air exit)? I'm all for a well thought-out kit (and you finding me a car BTW), I'm just more interested in what the design considerations are.

SAM@GTM 04-28-2011 01:17 PM

There's two different philosophies behind the two different stages. The stage 1 kit was intended for the ultimate performance enhancement without having to change anything on the car, meaning it will bolt up without any major modifications. As we all know, it is a very tight engine bay and putting the supercharger in the bottom was not the easiest way of doing things. It has been accomplished nonetheless and the kit is performing very well. So I wouldn't call that a compromise.

On the other hand, the stage 2 kit is going to be balls out and offer the best performance we can squeeze out of the c38-91 blower. With doing that, the stage 2 kit will be getting different motor mounts, different intake, intake piping, fuel system. It's designed for big power. I hope that makes sense.

so where is the stage 2 located? still in the same place?

NewYorkJon34 04-28-2011 04:24 PM

balls out performance, sign me up :tiphat: no homo, lol

SAM@GTM 04-28-2011 05:34 PM

Same place with different motor mounts.

NewYorkJon34 04-28-2011 06:34 PM

So will reliability be an issue from the added power in the stg.2 kit? Or can the stock motor still be able to safely handle said power? Thanks for the updates Sam - future customer

Mike@GTM 04-28-2011 06:58 PM

Given that 500whp has been shown to be reliable on street setups and our goal is 450whp with this kit, reliability shouldn't be an issue.

SeeyaBud86 04-28-2011 07:07 PM

Thanks for the updates GTM.

Xan 04-28-2011 07:16 PM

So did stage 3 get cancelled, as you're using the C38-91 for the stage 2 now?
Or will you guys have another one up your sleeves?

NewYorkJon34 04-28-2011 08:36 PM

Well seeing as the c38-81 was intended for the stage 3, the stage 2 is going to be incredible with the c38-91.

Z eliminator 04-28-2011 09:50 PM

I will be disapionted if it only makes 450 rwhp. When Sams stage 1 made almost 438 rwhp and the 91 flows 17 % more air.
