This car is a blast to ride in! Great build!

Do you Dyno in 4th gear?

Ryan@Forged 10-27-2010 08:49 AM

yes, we always dyno in 4th :)

I wanted to thank all of the Forged Performance team on doing this great build. The team did a great job and the quality of the TT kit is awesome. When I stepped through the doors of Forged Performance, I did not intend on going the TT route but Sharif talked me in to it.
Z Nationals was coming near and Sharif told me they would get the build done before Z Nationals and they did. It didn't take the team long to do the install. They got my car in and out in 7 days. Now thats a quick install :)
This build came out great, the TT kit fit like oem, and they had no problems at all. I have no problems at all runs like oem and the start-up is great. I am amazed at how much power it is pushing with only 5psi. In the future, i plan on getting boost controller and new clutch and flywheel for some more power.

Why? Aren't you supposed to dyno in the gear that is closest to a 1:1 ratio but not into overdrive. The 5th gear in the 6 speed is 1.00.

Numbers look good for 5psi. Blue couplers, not my style, but congrats on the build!

congrats and nice set up.

The 1:1 ratio needs to used on intertia dynos such as the DynoJet. On Load Based Dynos like the Dyno Dynamics and Mustang, the gear choice does not affect peak power so most of us 4th gear to keep the roller speeds down. We've done many 4th and 5th gear tests and the peak numbers are the same. Hope that helps.

Oh ok, I didn't know there was a difference in that respect.

Do you have to input that information into the dyno for it to make the right calculations?

Q8y_drifter 10-31-2010 04:36 PM

I've always dyno'd my 5AT in 3rd gear on DJ's :/

DIGItonium 10-31-2010 11:55 PM

That's definitely a nice gain for 5 PSI. Do you guys have the base dyno?

Bone stock the car made 282whp this past summer at the Forged Performance dyno day.

Yup..thanks! Rogue's Nismo made about 270whp as well. The Nismos have all dynoed about 10-20whp higher than the regular 370Z which suprised me.

So...how did you get a nice looking curve? I thought everyone had trouble tuning these and it resulted in some wavy lines past the 6K mark or so? Is this a problem of the past?
