However if Sam does not have your ECU number listed, then you simply need to send him the ECU data and he'll crack the ECU and make a new ROM file for you. This basically allows you to modify and upload maps onto the ECU by unlocking it. This is done even on US ECU's. It's only a matter of whether your specific ECU part number has already been cracked or not. Once it's cracked, all you do is upload the maps that come with it and tuning is done.

The maps and tuning software is the same for all ECU's.

Unless you have the required fuel injectors, fuel pump and tuning software, then the turnkey kit is obviously the better choice in your situation.
Alright well there you go, there is the answer you were looking for. Sorry I was unable to answer that question but I didn't want to ramp on about something I knew nothing about and give false info on the subject.

Thanks for the info Q8y_drifter, and toner123 no need to apologise.

So lastly, can the turn-key kit be tuned by a third party tuner outside of GTM?

Only if they are an Uprev tuner. I suggest you use the GTM base maps and tweak them if need be by a tuner.

Now the only issue with that is that the MAPS that SAM sends are locked. I know this from personal experience. Now maybe if you talked to Sam he can send the person you would like to tune the car a open map with basic parameters set that way you don't have to pay for a full tune. I don't know if he will do that but never know till you ask. Also I wouldn't know why you would want to do that. Sam has the tunning of these cars down to a science and the turn key kit is truly a great value as to where a full custom tune can cost about 1G USD.

I don't know how much these cost. i didn't even know Sam locked the maps. My tuner said he can tune my car for about $200, assuming Sam's maps required a little tweaking.
