Jason, thanks for everything as well. The car is a beast... I was crusing on the Turnpike at right around 90-100mph for two 1/2 straight hours. Oil temps were right around 175-185. The best thing about this car is that you have the best of both worlds. Stock feel ( if under boost of course ) and then you have the retarded fast mode once you're on boost. So far I'm very happy with the turn out of everything.

I just got back from florida and i went for a ride in that badAZZ sleeper Z. When your just crusin it's super quite not much louder than stock, my still/berk CBE/HFC sounds louder. But then when you get on it that beast comes ALIVE, it was F#^king awsome. Thanks for the ride and going out of your way to meet up with me late as hell even though you had to get up for work in like 5 hours. xbigb4ller69z is one of the coolest guys i've met on the forum so far thanks again. It was completely worth the ten hour drive to check it out... o yeah disney so cool too.

Cool, thanks. So this turbo is used on what they're calling a Stage 2? What turbos do the lower stages use?
I used a 48 trim GT2871R with the 0.86 A/R turbine on a Celica build and I didn't think that turbo was very well suited to the application. I felt it was really laggy and then it came on like a hammer at 4200 rpm, which really sucked on a FWD car. That turbo replaced an earlier kit with a smaller IHI turbo (VF23). That setup was never going to impress anyone with numbers, but it spooled right up and gave the car a bunch of midrange power it never had. It seemed like my old setup was kind of comparable since the Celica engine was basically half the displacement of the VQ37. I'm currently working on a different Celica with the same turbo this kit is using, so I'm curious to see the difference between how the two turbos behave. I get full boost on my car around 3800-3900 and I have the stage 2 kit on my 07 HR 350z. That sounds a little late but it still provides plenty of low end torque while cruising if you need to pass someone around 50-60mph or at highway speeds. |

Has anyone heard anything about the new Garrett GTX series turbos they released at SEMA???? After I rebuild my block I will upgrade to a bigger set up turbos. These new GTX turbos look way too big. Maybe they will make them in smaller sizes soon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsSwa5cYP8g Edit: looks like they don't make one that will work with the GTM kit
