|
no flame suit need, I think it's been done on a G but not a Z as of yet, I might be wrong.

There is a 370z 7AT TT done, forget which shop did it, will see if I can find the thread.
Should be another one done soon. ;) |

Note: I have spoken to a local tuner who allegedly worked on a turboed G37, and apparently the torque converter failed... :icon14:
Now that is weird, and I don't have all the details (sounds like improper load readings -- which could all be due to a poor tune -- caused the lock up mechanism to go in and out too frequently, eventually leading to failure), but personally I would want to hear LOTS of feedback from the 7AT guys who are boosting to hear how things are holding up before I plunked down several grand on this... Actually, I'd like to hearback from the MT guys too... just want to make sure everyhting is holding together. |
You should email gtm and ask how much can the 7 speed handle. They're pros.

Yeah Baker Tuning should have one out soon. Just ask Sam he can tell you what you need to get the job done.
|
Stillen also has a supercharged G37 with the 7A/T that has been beat on for 40,000 miles and has not had any transmissions issues. I would assume that the longevity of the 7 speed automatic transmission (or even the 6mt) would be left in the hands of the driver: this would probably include rolling into the throttle, making conservative boost maps, avoiding sharp kickdowns in the lower gears, and making sure the trans oil temperatures are kept in check.

had my gtm kit for aboout half a yr now, holding up fine
|
^^ how much power are you making at the rear tires ?
|
Gtm stage 1 , 310kw@6psi was told can easy do another 2-3 psi with harm, hopefully getting this done over the weekend
Edit With no harm I mean lol |
Just make sure you have installed a transmission oil cooler and you should be fine.
Also, if you're cruising in higher gears and wanna step on it don't keep it in D or DS and step on the throttle hard. It puts the transmission in a lot of stress because the engine is suddenly trying to make more power while the trans is trying to shift down all at the same time. Use the M mode, downshift to the gear you want, THEN step on the throttle. That's pretty much it. |
Tao
No offense but you've been running a more conservative setup than what GTM specify. So I don't know if the experience with your car to date is an accurate description of what others can expect. Having said that, I'd be keen to know how it goes once you increase the PSI and have been driving the car for a while. Good luck with it mate and please keep us posted. |
