Have you thought about doing a recirculating valve to put the unused air back into the intake path and help the turbo spool up?
but filter location is a little curious to me too.

it would be a good idea also as having it as a atmosphere vent will cause a momentary rich condition. plus i dont really like the sound. we will see... thanks for the input steve

how do they keep the filter from getting so much road dirt when under the car? Can it be placed in the engine?

i will have to take care by not driving in deep puddles, but i am going to run a prefilter also with a splash shield. the car is a toy so i dont drive everyday.when the turbo get in ill start mocking it up and taking some pics...

so if intake filters have to go under car then IMO this is not a good solution for DD cars. Can the filter be put in the engine bay still?
