Would love to see the setup in person. A growing number of NW people meet at the Tukwila Borders/Starbucks parking lot on average once every two months. Do a search on Seattle Area to find the chatter.

Will do - would like to see what other people in the community are doing as well....

Will have the car back in a couple weeks and plan on bringing it out.

Thanks for the info, Greedy. +1 rep :tiphat:

Update:

Just talked to Sam and the car is finished! Heading to the airport in an hour and am picking it up tomorrow morning. A couple of issues came up:

1. The Kinetix Intake Plenum has proved to perform just like the old ones for the vq35's - like crap. The TQ curve peaked then fell off and was causing some other driveability issues - Put the stock plenum back on and all is good.

2. The Synchronic BOV's that I wanted to try out were causing problems with the MAF readings at idle - I had them put on the tried and true Tial's.

3. The car PC monitoring system that Sam wanted to try out ended up not working. His install guy left mid project, so he intstalled the Blitz system. I will run with it untill something better comes out.

The numbers were good with the above stuff on there (500hp, 450tq), but will be on the dyno today with the stock plenum and tials on and improve on those numbers.

I will be driving back through vegas then back up through Utah and Idaho this weekend and let you all know how it does. Can't wait until the morning - feels like Christmas!!

Nice! As I suspected on the intake mani, though... :(

Did they try the SB001.5A anti-stall valve kit on your Synchronic BOV's? I don't have any direct experience, but they're supposed to help with idle on VTA MAF-based setups.

aww i was looking forward to seeing the monitoring system :(

Not sure honestly. I am taking them home with me though and may try the anti-stall or recirculate them into the cold side of the turbos.

Heading to GTM right now!

Just a little update, he has been on the roed for the last couple days, posted this yesterday on the G37 board .

Boost comes on around 3k and hits hard. Crusing at 60 on the freeway and it's right around 0 psi, give it a little gas and you are into boost. It only takes about 10% throttle and im up to 80 effortlessly. It was 106F out and intake air temps were about 114F. Can't wait to get heading north and see what it's like in 80-70F weather.

Final dyno numbers came in around 530hp/475tq. I am going to dyno it again when I get home just to verify and see what it does on WA gas and temps.

Can't wait to get on the road again today!

And here is the before and after dyno

At what psi?

10.5-11psi.

It got colder in Oregon and north on the drive back. It pulls alot harder in 60 degree weather and the temps are nice and low. The intercooler seems to be very efficient as the IAT's are about 10 degrees over ambient after 3 good pulls. Oil temp hovered around 180-200.

Sounds good man. Can't wait until I have the money for a TT setup.

I think they're priced about right, but priced out of my league at the moment.

I was going to say the BOV looks and is named like a totally cheap HKS rip-off. If you want a pull type valve just get a real HKS Super Sequential. They're really reliable. But, it sounds like you got a pull type Tial wich is a respectable brand so I'm sure you will be good.

It looks great, nice power!

The Synchronic BOV is so much better than any POS HKS. I've had HKS BOV's on both my Evo and Galant turbo cars, and they suck. Period. Recirculated or not. Across the entire factory-turbocharged community, you will find nothing but dissatisfaction with the SSQV. The TiAL BOV's are also a much better choice than HKS units.

FuszNissan 09-06-2010 09:48 PM

I like my HKS SSQV's

lol Lou, I knew you'd have something to say.

I like(d) them as well, but it's common-accepted truth that they're not healthy for high-volume turbochargers or even some stockers - they cause unnecessary compressor surge/flutter in some applications, and quite often leak under high boost.

2 SSQV's is actually a really good setup to eliminate flutter and surge (plus it sounds bad ***), but I'd still rather have something else if I were parting together a kit.

My point is: Synapse Synchronic BOV's are indeed legit. I wouldn't call them an HKS knock off at all.
