Forced Induction oil temperatures
I decided to go with GTMs TT kit. Obviously it's a must to go with an oil cooler, has anyone ever done twin oil coolers to maintain oil temps down? What are the forced induction guys experiencing?
The other day I was hanging out with a friend's TT Z ( GREDDY ) and oil temps were getting up to 260 degrees! of course he was driving it hard, but that's unheard of. I can only imagine if you track the car!? any ideas? solutions? I want to make sure the install/project gets done right. Thanks!

is AE performance the most aggressive and efficient setup for forced induction though? I thought maybe twin oil coolers with 8 quarts of oil might be a better setup... any ideas?

If you can find the space to put in two 19 row coolers inline, that would be your best bet as it would start getting more difficult to fit larger units inline. Additional oil capacity is good for extending oil change intervals but if you are pushing FI power and are driving the car hard, that extra oil will get just as hot as the rest.

Also, what size oil cooler was your friend running on his TT setup? I would suggest if you are going to do forced induction I would look at anything larger than a 19 row cooler.

I have an oil spacer, Competition 25 row and we are not having any oil temp problems but mine is SC not TT so not quite as much heat generated. It takes 7.5 quarts and I track my car and never get above 230 in 90 ambient, haven't got to run in the 107 currently plaguing OK.

Yeah, I think the 25 row Stillen would be just fine for a street TT setup as well but given the extra heat it does produce I think an even larger core is a good idea if you are tracking. Plus he is in FL where Summers are brutally hot and humid.

you also went with the GTM kit so there for your temps shouldn't reach as high as his even if you had the same exact setup. Unlike the greddy kit the GTM one really doesn't use the oil to cool it down. It uses the oil to lubricate the bearings and the coolant fluid in your car to cool its self. This is one of the big reasons the gtm kit shines over the greddy kit.

You are definately right, my bad. I just checked it out and you are not kidding, the AE unit is massive!

I am located in the super heat of Houston TX. I have the GTM competition oil cooler and my temps never go over 195 or 200, and may I add this thing is huge. I have gotten it to 220 but thats cause I was ripping on it really hard for about 10min, and at the time I had a real rich tune for 91 oct instead of 93. Im sure now it would go up a little higher on agressive street driving conditions now since the tune I use on the daily now is little leaner.
One thing I would like to see though is, the capability to get up to temps much quicker after a cold start. I can drive 20min away to my office sometimes and finally just be getting up to 180-190 by the time I get their. I dont rip it until it reads 180 or more so it makes for a granny drive to the office every day

107 deg ambient and driving hard for 30 minutes yesterday and only saw 210 oil temps max mostly around 200. Also had to let the car sit and it would heat soak for 10-15 minutes while reflashing the ECU between tuning changes.
