Default VQ35DE vs. VQ37?

I have heard that the 35's did not really like boost, and the bottom-end was weak. Is the new 3.7 stronger? Are these TT kits "running on the edge" of what the engine can handle at 450whp, or is this a safe level of power for DD'ing the car at on 91* pump gas?

I read the FAQ, but it seemed a bit dated...

ummm my 350 is fine with boost, I'm on stock internals with 9 lbs of boost with APS twins, Greedy Evo TT exhaust, invidia test pipes, and ACT clutch. I ran consistent 12.2-12.4's at the track. I dynoed 457 rwhp btw

on a DE engine? better turn that boost down a few bud, that bad boys gonna pop soon. I believe the recommended boost pressure on the APS kit was 7 lbs for a grand total of 350-400whp, which APS deemed as "Safe".

IIRC, Sharif had his '03 350Z boosted around 450whp+ with stock internals and never had issues.

350Z_2nr, is yours daily driven as well? How many miles have you put on it since you had the APS kit?

Like any engine, definition of safe will vary from engine to engine.
From a few 350z I know many guys are running just below 450rwhp and have been for upwards up 30,000 miles or more, with little to no issues (just normal maintenance). Though there are guys who try to run the same thing and run into issues, it comes down to prep, good shop (or install really), and taking care of the car properly. I would not say the 3.7l is any better or worse, but experience of the past has given a lot of what can/cannot be done to the current engine (3.7l).

I loved my DE engine, very torquey, and very tuff. But I'm willing to be the VHR can handle allot more, better...just as the HR did vs the DE

It's not driven daily, I have had the kit on for 2 and half years and put around 11k on it with the turbos. As for the 7 lbs, no my kit came with a tune from APS set to 9 lbs. That's with the engine management from APS so I don't think i'll be having any problems. I have had absolutely no issues with the car other than traction
